This particular car is the 2nd earliest TR imported into Oz in 1953, a barn find about 3 years ago . It is one of the oldest few survivors in the world. I am restoring this one meticulously, and am still collecting parts but so far I have completed the restoration to concourse standards of the chassis, suspension, interior trim, wheels, brakes,diff and gearbox.I am about Half way through the bodywork but the car has been rolled at some pount in its history and the tub is very challenging. It is one inch shorter on one side!!! I am still searching for the original TR engine block from this very early car. I have a later Tr2 fully rebuilt engine to slot in, but I would prefer the original block…bon chance! I also have 2Triumph Tr3As built on consecutive days in 1960.One is original, having owned it since 1976. The other one of the Tr3As is a lightweight race car with glass/carbon panels, a worked Tr4 motor and 4A cyl head, 2500s o/d gearbox and 4.3 dif.Standard brakes and non adjustable shocks make it’ handling “exciting” to say the least, after an MX5!!! Also have a couple of Mx5s (Malibu Gold NA - one of only 50 imported and this one is fully optioned with leather and hard top ;-and a 2006 fylly optioned NC with yellowspeed coilovers and heavy duty sway bars) I have a half share in a racing 1.6 NA called Igor, which is set up for the Australian “Clubman Class”, with very restrictive modification rules.Slower than my road NA but fun! plus 3 series 3 Land Rovers ( Lwb; SWB, and a Safari 109 Station Wagon)and a Defender Td5 Wagon which s my daily drive. 1938 Ul Harley undergoing engine rebuild and a 1997 Heritage Springer still brand new!
