While doing research on sedan racing in Ontario (Canada) I learned that Lee White had had some success racing a similar Ford Pinto in this area. Lee White went on to head Toyota TRD.

Who would have guessed that the lowly Pinto could be a competitive race car?

Carson Baird, for one.  He won the IMSA Baby Grand championship in 1972, in a Pinto.
