Head-and-neck restraints are required for virtually every racing series regardless of skill level, and even if we find ourselves at a track event that doesn't require them, we normally opt to wear them for our own well-being.

As far as options, two popular ones are the HANS Device and Simpson's Hybrid S restraint, both available from Simpson Racing Products. Each one has unique features that might make it suited for certain situations.

Important note: While Simpson can offer head restraint protection for use with three-point seatbelts, Simpson’s top concern is driver and instructor safety. Simpson suggests a Full Containment Cockpit System that includes a Full Containment Seat, Snell- or FIA-rated helmet, FIA- or SFI-approved Frontal Head Restraint, and a five-to-seven-point seatbelt harness system for the best protection while on the track.
