My thoughts too! Looking at other videos of him wheeling he always seems to release the outside hand and only pull down with the inside hand. Regardless of left or right corners or even type of car. My guess is it's an old autocross habit that served him well on the race track too. Perhaps from an old injury or other physical reason. Unorthodox, but can't argue with the results.
Yeah, what he does with his hands is interesting. I've got three pedals so obviously leave go with my right hand to shift. That's pretty much to only time my hands move on the wheel. I will never be at or on the same level as Randy so definitely not criticism, just interesting.

I drove one in Vegas last year at Exotics Racing. Banging 9k shifts up to around 125mph down the front straight was absolutely glorious.
It was my favorite of the 3 cars I drove.
