Another one from the vaults!! Jerry would doubtless approve of this one. I owned a 142 in that color in my youth. I would stare at the ribbon speedo as it surged and ebbed and surged like a set of waves in my daft exuberant attempts to coax 90 per out of the stomburg saddled 4 banger. And 4 wheel disk brakes!!! NOBODY had those in 1980. It was a solid reliable car (that idled like E36 M3- stromburgs (I know people who knew what they were doing could make them work (I didn't know what I was doing))) and one of many Volvos I have owned run and sold for what I paid for them or more after lots of happy miles.
"...And 4 wheel disk brakes!!! NOBODY had those in 1980..." uhmm....Fiat X1/9's had 4 wheel disk brakes in 1974, through the late 80's.
You haven't heard the joke?..."If Volvo made a go-kart, it would be a X1/9" (heavy, underpowered, and built like a tank...but still a go-kart )
