2019 Hyundai Tuscon Ultimate FWD new car reviews

Dang, Tucson, you got all fancy on us. Check out that new nose. Is this the show car? Nope, it’s the real deal.

Hyundai might call this a midcycle refresh for 2019, but there’s a lot of newness here, with the 1.6-liter engine NLA. Direct injected 2.0- and 2.4-liter fours backed by six-speed automatics support the entire line. Also new: new wheels, new center stack, new cluster, new front and rear fascias and new LED running lights. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also new.

Hyundai and Kia have come so far so quickly, and the new face gives this one a premium look without the heavy price tag. Does that matter for most of us? In this class of vehicle, yeah, I’m going to think that it does.

The 2.4 delivers plenty of power for the class. I’d like to see how the 2.0 does on the lower-priced variants.

Anyway, back to this one, Hyundai keeps making big strides forward. Is this your next autocrosser or track rat? No. But if looking for a normal people-mover, it’s worth a look.
