A new challenger approaches the TC America grid: The GR Corolla.

Starting with a production GR Corolla, the folks at Toyota Gazoo Racing North America tack on several race-ready upgrades: Gazoo Racing-designed MacPherson struts, JRi adjustable shocks, OMP seat and six-point harness, FIA-approved roll cage, OMP fire suppression system, Alcon brakes–six-piston front, two-piston rear–and what TGRNA describes as “various aerodynamic improvements.”

The 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-three engine and all-wheel-drive are retained, as well as the eight-speed auto.

The GR Corolla will enter competition in the 2025 TC America season, which sees the former TCX and TC classes replaced by one single class.

In addition to expanding its sports car racing program, explains the press release, the introduction of the GR Corolla TC also helps to further grow the “TGRNA sports car ladder.”

More information on the GR Corolla TC–including specifications, pricing and contingency programs–will be made available soon, per Toyota.

Not me eager to know how much it costs, like I could even afford one anyway. laugh

I do love that the manufacturers are paying attention to more than just TCR. The non-TCR classes aren't huge in the US—mostly having their only high-profile outlet in SRO World Challenge—but they're huge overseas. I' d love to see SCCA and NASA adopt some direct drop-in classing for these cars like they've done for other homologation machinery.

In reply to JG Pasterjak :

I have my fingers crossed that we'll also be able to take advantage of TC Lite regulations here in the U.S.

The TC classes are fun to watch. Glad to see another player come into the mix.

This should clean up in the wet, just glanced over the other TCA entries and it will be the only 4WD car on the grid.

The GR Corolla is a tidy package of power and grip. I hope lots of them are sold, but I may have a vested interest in them doing well.

I taught HPDE in a couple of these.  Great traction, great power, overall nice track manners.  However I never got one to go all 20 minutes without the rear differential overheating and going into limp mode.  I assume someone will be offering some sort of cooler setup for that eventually?

Came here to post a similar thought.

edit to add:  I wish VW would look at this and consider doing something similar with the Golf R.
