For every entry into the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge presented by Grassroots Motorsports–our annual search for the fastest machine on four wheels–we ask a simple question: What makes your car the Ultimate Track Car?
While some offer a lengthy list of upgrades and others offer a detailed recount of previous efforts, Ghais Khaleghi, the winner of last year’s UTCC, keeps it simple.
Instead, he points out that his 2012 Stohr WF1 combines a lightweight carbon fiber body with a BMW motorcycle engine that can rev all the way to 14,000 rpm. A potent formula, sure, but is it one potent enough to secure a second overall UTCC win?
There’s only one way to find out, and that’s at Kentucky’s NCM Motorsport Park for the 2024 Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge presented by Grassroots Motorsports, October 26-27, which takes place alongside the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals Powered by Hagerty.
Rules for the UTCC are simple: Both car and driver must pass a safety inspection. That’s all.
Outside of that, build your track car however you see fit: Twin turbos, custom-built chassis, massive wings, sequential gearboxes–it’s all welcome at the UTCC.
