Buying a 3D printer or a plasma cutter is one thing, but actually being able to use these tools to make something usable is another thing entirely.

Forum user SkinnyG—high school drafting teacher by day, mad scientist by night (maybe)—has shared an entire course on how to use Fusion 360, a computer-aided design program that can translate that napkin scribble into an actual, usable component.

The full course is split up into two parts, which can be viewed here and here on SkinnyG's website. Or you can visit the thread over on the Your Tech Tips forum.

Awesome. I just got the free Hobby/Personal use version of Fusion 360 and I'll be going through  these tutorials. Thanks for posting.
