We're in L.A. this week attending the MPMC Media Trade Conference, and, while we are here, Hyundai gave us the keys to a Hyundai Ioniq 6 to drive.

We have a 2023 Ioniq 6 and love it!

Still curious about this, though my wife just got an Audi Q5 e-tron, so I guess we've reset the timer on considering a full EV a few years.

Curious to hear how it differs from the Ioniq 5 apart from the shape, and what you guys end up thinking.

Totally loved my time behind the wheel. It’s both docile and extremely fast. Love the looks, look the feel from inside.

These have quite the low swoop in back.  How is trunk capacity/luggage loading?

Trunk capacity is good, as the trunk is really deep. You do give up some vertical space though due to the car's shape. I posted this in a different thread, but the Ioniq 6 is a large sedan. It is 191.5" overall in length, which is identical to my 2012 X5, which was available with an optional 3rd row!

I've put something like 700 miles on the car so far, and I've been blown away. Think size and shape of a Model 3, but without the squeaks and rattles and with a way smoother ride. If I was shopping for a daily, this is a really compelling choice.

As someone that's interested in a not-Tesla Tesla 3, I want to like this car.  Really.  But I just can't get over the fact that it's one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.  Eye of the beholder and all that, but is it just me?  I wouldn't be buying it for looks, but I find it so unpleasant to look at that I just can't seriously consider it.

Nice detective work, John! Yes, that's exactly where I shot the photo.

And I think the front is fairly attractive, but the rear is just... weird. Time will tell if it ages well or if it ages poorly.

Yeah, dead-on from the front is fine.  But any other angle makes me grimace.   I'm reminded of the 3rd gen Taurus.  Or the Oldsmobile Aurora.  From the side, the weird curve makes it looks like it's arching its back and taking a dump.  I'm wondering if this a harbinger of auto styling going back to curves and away from the axe cuts that have been so popular lately.
