That picture is epic, well done. I love that the R63 is still causing enough joy to justify it's pain.
Google mazdeuce’s “The Unicorn of my Destruction” and you’ll find the tale of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz R63 AMG spread far and wide across the internet, from Road & Track, Autoweek and The Drive to countless message boards, some not even in English.
The thread started with much excitement: mazdeuce had found one of the 44 or so copies of the 505-horsepower, all-wheel-drive AMG-Benz minivans sold in the U.S.
“Common wisdom says buying a ten year old AMG Mercedes out of warranty is certain to cause immense pain and maritial strife,” his build thread opens. “I don't doubt that for a second, though I harbor a hope that I'm the one guy who gets away with it.
“I just can't not buy it, even knowing how stupid the whole thing is.”
That post was made in February 2016.
Things went sideways that September due to a head bolt failure. The dealership’s bill: just $57,515. No, that’s not a typo.
So mazdeuce did the only logical thing, rebuilding the unicorn’s 6.2-liter, 32-valve, twin-cam V8 powerplant in his own garage. This is where, about 100 pages into his build thread, the story went viral.
Mazdeuce eventually sold the AMG, but the story continues thanks to PseudoNim, the unicorn’s latest caretaker. Current work centers on cooling, suspension, lights and wiring–don’t worry, plenty of horrors to go around–and the original build thread is closing in on the 130-page mark.
Are the factory wires really coming apart? Better check out the thread.

Why stick your (list body part here) in a vice when you can put in a wheat thresher.
I've admired the raw courage of that thread.

You know, I think I have that album.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
Thanks. I'll admit, I had a little too much fun putting that picture together in Photoshop.
You take internal Torx
You put it in a bolt
Watch engines running hot
Watch the bolts' heads explode....
