Power comes from an S54, and, looking at the photos, the BMW sports an aftermarket air intake plus a set of fender flares.

BMW has made a few M3 utes over the years at the factory so I will happily accept this as cannon.

Fender flares on it are so cool.

philosophically speaking - Is it really a pickup truck if there's no tailgate upon which to sit, dangle your legs, and drink adult beverages?

First thing I noticed. Even Rampages had proper tailgates.

^ Shockingly difficult thing to get to work right, like I'm about to throw the towel in on the functional tailgate idea on the Civic truck.

Could they have made a tailgate out of the lower half of a Touring hatch?

I so love this!! Taking cars or even SUVs (like Range Rovers) and making pickups or 'utes' out of them is so very cool, and I would drive one daily without issue.  However, I agree about the tailgate issue, but also agree that there must be a solution and a Sawzall is likely involved.  I want to do this ute thing using a MBZ or BMW 5-series.  Total awesomeness.

Completely agree. I learned this myself on something very similar, adapting car doors to a different chassis. Spent hours properly aligning everything in five degrees of freedom.
