Daytona Beach, FL—Want to find out how well your car grips? Ever spent time on a skidpad? Here’s your chance to tick off both those boxes for free. The 2015 Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty will feature a great new competition at Road Atlanta on April 26: the Traqmate Skidpad challenge. It’s an exciting search for the best gripping car.
We’re issuing an open invitation for all car owners to attack our skidpad: any make, any model, any vintage, any modifications. Whatever the car’s preparation, we can place it in a class where it will compete with similarly prepared rivals. Awards will be given to winners of each class.
It’s a very safe and enjoyable competition, since entrants will drive a car around the skidpad as fast as possible while Traqmate equipment logs data from each run. (Traqmate has been providing innovative data acquisition tools for automotive enthusiasts since 2003. They offer a line of affordable, quality electronics products for all forms of motorsports.)
The more lateral g’s the car can sustain, the higher it ranks in its class. It’s that simple.
The Traqmate Skidpad challenge is free to enter. Just submit a completed entry form, then bring the completed vehicle information form to the track with your vehicle. You will need to purchase a Sunday ticket to the Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty in order to gain access to the skidpad.
The Classic Motorsports Mitty, which is presented by Hagerty and sanctioned by HSR, is one of the largest vintage racing events in the United States. This festival of speed is celebrated every year at Road Atlanta; the 2015 event will take place on April 24-26. Tickets are on sale now at hsrtickets.com. The truck in my avatar will very likely be making an appearance. I've never done a skidpad, this should be fun. With all of 80hp, I'll probably never have to lift...
I may have to try putting the big ugly green truck on the skidpad - unless I have the Dart running by then.
as of today my build is as fully disassembled as a vehicle can get....so 3 months to paint/clean/source/reassemble....sure no problem....ugh.
