User Ironsides's Toyota Matrix XRS isn't a Lotus Elise, but they do share an engine.
It's not some kind of freaky engine swap, either. Later Series 2 and Series 3 Lotus Elises are powered by the Toyota 2ZZ GE, which is the same engine that comes in the Matrix XRS, as well as the Celica GT-S.
The plan here looks to be a fun car daily to carry some of the bigger items like tires and wheels.
Since picking up the car back in 2018, the Matrix has received some tasteful modifications that increase the fun factor, such as the set of Koni STR.Ts with Tein springs, an axle-back Borla exhaust (a $60 Craigslist find) and an Exedy clutch kit.
What's next for Ironsides's Matrix? Besides necessary maintenance, a set of H&R springs to replace the stiff Tein springs, as well as finishing swapping out some axles with a vibration.
