Before sending our 1965 Mustang vintage racer down to Blast Masters for media blasting and painting the interior, we wanted to shed bit of weight–16 ounces make a pound, right?

Our goal for the Mustang: 2800 pounds without driver.

We saved about 10 pounds by removing the windshield wipers and wiring harness. Instead of wipers, we’ll simply apply Rain-X to the windshield. Removal of the wiper mechanism was straightforward–just had to undo a few easily accessible bolts.

For the wiring harness, we’re going to run a Bare Bonz harness from Ron Francis Wiring. Removing the harness took a bit more time as it had to be finessed through various body cavities as well as the firewall.

Now that the interior is fully ready–fully stripped, finished cage and assorted mounts added–the car can go to Blast Masters.
