Race car exhaust systems are usually pretty simple. To assist fabbing up an exhaust for our 1965 Ford Mustang race car, we went to Travis at B&T Automotive in Port Orange, Florida.

For this exhaust system, we would run two 3-inch pipes from the headers out the right rear, terminating in front of the rear tires.

We would also install an X-pipe as close to the headers as we could. This X-pipe helps create a venturi effect and theoretically adds a few more horsepower.

The thinking on the exhaust system design was to keep it short to keep it light and to exit it away from the driver and, hopefully, any sound meters we encounter.
