I have a ported head, cams and a disco potato turbo with an LSD. I tried using SCT to tune the stock computer, ran like a scalded cat on the top end, but idling issues have frustrated me, so I’m going to a microsquirt. I am giving serious thought to pulling the whole powertrain module out and putting it in mid engine with appropriate suspension geometry corrections.
I need some input, if I move the engine and transaxle to the rear end for a mid engine, rear wheel, drive set up, I’m going to need a new front suspension and steering. I was thinking that Miata is fairly close in weight and is considered a good handling car. I found an early Miata subframe near me for $75 and grabbed it, but I am wondering if anyone would suggest another front suspension that would be either a better fit or beefier and have better wheel options before I start fabricating mounts.
