Saab 96 DeLuxe

16

1969 Saab 96 DeLuxe I bought this car on eBay from a guy in Utah last year. My best friend and I flew out and drove the car back to KY. You can read about our adventure and see some good pictures here: http://archive.grassrootsmotorsports.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=27006

When I first hit Atlanta 20yrs ago, I worked for a few SCCA buddies. One of `em owned an indie SAAB shop. I knew what a 96 was, but had never driven one. He had a V4 he used as the "go pick up the parts" car. I loved it. First time I'd ever driven three-on-the-tree...but I'd driven manuals for a long time (British cars), so it wasn't completely strange. <g> A customer even let me drive his 2-stroke once. That was cool too.

I still remember seeing you on I-80 outside of Coalville. That was surreal. Good luck with the project!!

My dad had a new '64. The guy at Sears wouldn't put the snow tires on the front. My 1st car on the road was a beat '67 2 stroke Monte Carlo addition (4-speed on the tree, 3-cyl. 3-carbs) I bought it for $100.00 in '72 and beat the crap out of it. I'd love another.

Saw your 96 Deluxe, very sweet. I have three 95 wagons myself and am looking for a 96. Would you consider selling or a trade?

my Dad was the first SAAB dealer in the US. I still have a couple of his sales awards in my office. 2 cycle oil reminds me of a mis-spent youth in the parts and service department
