After the engine died shortly after we bought it, my wife and I began this resto-mod to Grp44 spec’s with too much money and a lot of love from Richard Good at Good Parts. Chassis has boxing and bracing at all the right points. In the process of the rebuild we lightened the car by over 200 pounds. The engine was sent out for the long-block build, we did everything else. Block is overbored .040, decked .010. Triple Strombergs with GoodParts intake, ported, polished and decked .015 head, GoodParts 1:65 roller rockers and GP3 300’ cam, Spitfire cam bearings, Wiseco 2-ring pistons at 9.5:1, Carillo rods, matched tube headers, aluminum flywheel and balancer, Toyota 5-speed trans. Rear wheel dyno at 147hp, 168tq at 5600rpm/4600rpm Suspension is Spax front, Koni rear, 720/450 spring rates with 7/8” bar front, 1/2” bar rear. Aluminum hubs with titanium stub axles, XJ6 ball joints, 1:2.5 manual rack, Nissan LSD, Honda CV joints, on-car adjustable camber. All bushings are poly or poly/brass. Wilwood front calipers, Datsun rear drums, DTC60/40 pads with Wilwood 570 fluid. Konig Rewind wheels with either Direzza ZR1 or Hoosier R6 16x7” We retained all running gear, glass, interior, radio and speakers and OEM body parts. Car weighs 1950 pounds with a race load and driver, and turns very respectable lap times. Basically, every part on the car has been replaced. Or, you could buy a Z4…:)
