Video: Yes, the Trabant Can Be Used as a Rally Car

https://www.youtube.com/embed/3WRQcJ0QnTU

The Trabant may not sound like an ideal candidate for stage rally, but it does have a few things going for it, like its low weight and simple two-stroke engine. At any rate, it’s fun to see the East German people’s car sliding and jumping like the best of them.

What’s the most unusual car you have seen—or even driven—at a rally event?

Capitan Bob of Aging Wheels has a trabbie that he autocrosses. I can completely understand why so many people love to own "The people's car" of East Germany despite it's many issues.

Speaking of unusual cars... he just bought the only legal Reliant Robin in America and is planning to autocross it soon.

I believe the last Trabbies had VW Polo motors in them and not the 2 stroke ,

since the wall came down in 1989 these would have to be 1989 and later....

Mr bean would have approved (and then probably tried to wreck it).

The Isettas made for the UK were 3 wheel but the same car for the continent was 4 wheel. I guess Reliant sort of did that with the Kitten but it lost all the quirky look of the Robin.
