well after driving this one all week and the 600 mile trip from Ohio. i am going to keep her. these cars are getting harder and harder to find in this type of condition there is not one ding or dent in this body. i will most likely sell my 84 633csi stick car and replace it with this but i cant let that one go for under $4,500.00

cutter - Good to hear you're keeping the car. Makes my life easier. Since these cars seem to find you, keep an eye out for a rust-free one in a darker color (black, dark blue or maroon) for a similar price. Automatic would probably be ok. Might be in a position to get one in a year or so. Doesn't have to be perfect, but she's a stickler about rust.

the biggest things are electrical and even that isnt that bad. dont even try the rear windows all of mine are disconnected from use they go bad easy so i just unplug them. heat and AC controls but you can buy new. new temp rheostat is $90.00...new fan speed switch is $75.00....new window motors $175.00.....you can still get most parts new for these cars. i buy a lot of parts from bmw of south atlanta i kow that seems crazy but they are really good people and treat me well and the prices they show on website are list and i get anywhere from 25% to 50% off that price

just check it out and drive it and see if you get a warm and fuzzy feeling for it

To be honest, that's what we (she) really need to do first. Find one to drive and see what it feels like. She loves how they look, but has never driven one - same thing with the 90's 8 series (the other semi-classic BMW she wants). It doesn't need to be a perfect car since it'll probably live outside anyway (would be car #5 for her).

Granted, after my E30, I'm not exactly keen on getting another 80's BMW to take care of, but she really loves these cars and it would be nice to have a "weather-proof" classic to drive when she doesn't want to get the 1800ES or Spitfire wet. While most people who own a Spitfire accept they are going to get wet once in awhile and laugh it off when it happens, she goes berzerk about it...
