Up for grabs is an '85 Caprice Wagon. Blue with fake, peeling woodgrain. Aborted Challenge project. It came into my garage a running car, had interior taken out, windows kinda gutted, and then stalled out on time and money. This is a friend of mines car and though he claims he has the title I have yet to get it from him.
He has the fenders and they will be included. It is not running at this time. Just needs a carb and a distributor. I suppose I'll also have to put the pedals and steering column back in.
As a freaking sweet bonus you'll get all the metal crap we took off and piled up intending to take to the junkyard. We found a sea shell and spiderman calculator I'll throw in too.
With the original intention being to put a manual trans in it I also have a five speed from an early '90s S-10 (NV3500 maybe?). I haven't tested it or taken it apart, but it did leave a permanent grease stain in my driveway from cleaning it. Take that bad boy home with you for only $100 more.
One tire has gone flat but held air for a good while. Trans was ok so I'm told. I drove it in, no reason to think otherwise. The engine has a nice layer of ancient grease on it but looks ok otherwise. What you have is a car that you can have driving in a couple hours for low money. I don't think anyone here will expect miracles but we've all sold cheap cars that people expected to come with lifetime warranties.
Somebody buy this a take it to Gainesville. Our plan was flat black with black stock car wheels. A decal saying "RACECAR SPELLED BACKWARDS IS STATION WAGON" was also planned. Do it.
$400-car
$100- manual transmission
Located in Duquoin, Illinois
I dig it, but I've already got one. Blue with the fake wood and everything. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/617/
Alright folks I need this bad boy gone. No cash for clunkers here, the car is now FREE.
Make an offer on the trans while you're at it.
Tell me there's no way this would make it back to Birmingham, AL in one piece under it's own power.
I'll be in Royalton over Labor day. Looks like it's only about 45 minutes or so from you.
Royalton is about ten minutes away. Head west on 14 for maybe 5 miles until you hit 51. When you get to 51 you're all of a mile south of Duquoin.
I guess if I throw the steering column and carb back on it may move under its own power for at least a bit. However Illinois to Alabama sitting on a milk crate might not be something I'd try.
Do you have a junk yard around you that would have a cheap bench seat to throw in it?
I would like to take it but will not have time to work on it when I'm up there and do not have a way to tow it back.
There are a couple little ones around. A lot of older GM bucket seats will bolt right up. We were going to use Monte Carlo seats and they dropped right in.
Anybody that would drive this thing that far is braver than I am...

That's not a good sign coming from someone on this board.
What engine is in that? The L05 in my Roadmaster is on its last leg and I can't swing a rebuild right now.
If it get's scrapped or dis-assembled, can I have the auto trans out of it? I could use another 200R4, and I'd toss some bones your way for it.
If you can get rid of it before Labor day please do so I can't haul it home.
If you still have it at Labor day I may come by to get it.
Ok after evaluating this some more, and my friend's motivation level I've come to some conclusions.
1.) He is never going to find the title for this thing.
2.) We tore the hell out of this poor car and I want to do the absolute bare minimum to get it where it can be dragged on a trailer. Even better if the person picking it up feels guilty and helps. There's no way in Hell I'm putting this back together enough that I'd feel comfortable letting a GRM'er try to drive it hundreds of miles home.
3.) Somebody take this. I'll give you a beer. Or a corn dog.
