I didnt see it in the rules so im assuming a battery is not budget exempt with an oem battery. But figured i would check. I bought my car as a roller and it did not come with a battery so i was not sure if you could get an oem replacement exempt or if its like any other part except brakes and tires that arent exempt.
Backup plan is to get a cheap one from the junk yard.
It is not exempt, but the junkyard is a great way to save some money buying one. Even better: use a $20 lawn mower battery and keep a jump box handy.
Or just start it with cables from your tow pig. Lighter and free!
Find someone who has a random junk car they want hauled off & hope it has a good battery.
Of course you might as well scavenge all the other parts & an assortment of scrap steel from it that you may need for the event someday.
Wish I had known. I have several around including a lawn mower battery I could have sent home with you.
Ok thanks everyone, just didn't want to shoot myself in the foot buying a new one. And no worries stampie, wasn't even on my mind then.

I once bought a car just for new battery and radio. Then sold the car for more than I paid.
Rural king usually has riding mower batteries for $12
