I really want my garage back so my '91 Miata needs to hit the road. I would like $500 for it as I can part it for at least that much. I wanted to build a Locost but after thinking about it for the past 3 months, I decided I just don't have the time, so off he goes.
Good: has Koni STR-T shocks, RB springs, FM sway bars, and it runs. Other new parts in the past year are newer front hubs, new tie rods, ball joints, rotors, Hawk HP pads, ES front control arm bushings, belt, plugs, wires and other maintenance stuff.
Bad: rust, rust, and more rust.
Will be rolling on stock steel wheels as the 949's are gone. Roll bar is also gone as are the mirrors.

Great for a Locost/LeMons build. While it will drive it hasn't moved since last September and should be gone thru.
In Janesville, WI.
Edit: I'm also looking for a welder so if you have a MIG set-up w/ bottle that's about the equivalent I'm open to a trade.
Wow, that is RUSTY! Let me think about it, Marty. My grandpa lives down in Janesville, this'd give me a nice excuse to drop in and say hi. Anything else you're looking for, trade-wise?
Also, did it pass tech OK? Think an HPDE event would turn me away?
Keeping in mind that i know almost nothing about these cars.... how bad is the rust REALLY?
It looks awful. About as bad as my last Celica that i got rid of.
That said, could this still be safely driven and raced?

It did pass tech but that was only with my local club, and I think we all know that a local clubs tech usually isn't as in depth as a SCCA tech. I personally wouldn't use it for a HPDE without more work. I did put about 1500 miles and 4 auto-x events on it last year.
I originally wanted to get a better tub and re-do it, but another member sold it out from under me after we reached a deal for a sale. That whole debacle kinda soured me and I started looking for a new car, hence the Solstice.
GR, if 'yer serious drop me a PM.

Is this salvageable by someone who probably wouldn't be able to do most of the rust repair work himself, while staying financially feasible?
Marty I need to check finances. I may be up for this.
Is the clutch slave still bad on it? Could I drive it to Milwaukee? Can probably pick up Wednesday.

Let me know if this is still available in the second week of March, cause I'll be in Whitewater at some point.
This things a deal just for the parts. Good price, should go fast.

I wasn't going to say anything but.............
Janesville, Gainesville..............close enough.
I have a straight rust free tub to go with this for anyone interested in doing things the hard way. :-)

Add Metaman's tub and you'll be into this for about $800, plenty of room for challenge upgrades
To answer more questions, yes the slave still needs to be replaced. Car will still shift fine but the clutch master is full of awfully dark fluid, first sign of a slave going bad. I'm pretty sure the car would make the trip to Milwaukee without any hiccups, but as mentioned it hasn't been driven in 5 months. The tires going on it ain't the best either. mtn, if it's still here in a month, I'll bump the thread up.

If Dizzy passes, I could pop up there this weekend. If it'll make it to Milwaukee, it should make it to Crystal Lake :)

Any update? Did you pick it up today, SlickDizzy? I'm still open to picking it up this weekend if the people in line before me have passed.
I'm just looking for a beater Miata to drive in the spring. :)

No, Dizzy hasn't picked it up yet but he does have dibs for now with GR being second.
I just passed on the car, as I crunched my numbers and would have to essentially skip the energy bill this month to get it, plus I have nowhere to keep the dang thing. If it was summertime I'd totally do it...dibs are now passed on to Grtechguy.
That, and it'd probably be stolen just like my Jetta. Convertible + sketchy neighborhood + already full garage = bad idea.
If you can get it to Michigan, I'm all over it.

No problem Dizzy.
GR, I don't have a way to get it to 'ya. I don't have a tow vehicle and whenever I have to move a car I usually have to rely upon friends who tend to be busier than me.
Looks like the ball is in your court there Lugnut.
