But...I think the Vigor 5 cylinder may have been longitudinal over a front drive transaxle.

I thought that Legend has a V6. That's short, right? Like about the same length as a Kent block?

Wouldn't a longitudinal 5 be even better than a transverse V6?

I thought the legend had a longitudinal Honduh V6. I don't claim to be a Honduh expert.

It does.... earlier ones could be had with a 2.7 litre. Nifty motor, nothing REAL spectacular, made like 150something hp, but i'm sure there's some on tap with bolt ons, and once it's squirted, god knows what it'll put out.

The later 2nd gen Legends were actually pretty quick, but i don't remember if they were longitudalicalanal mount or not.

The particular Chrysler mill I referred to was actually built by Lotus- particularly appropriate!

Very uncool Snowdoggie. This should have been offered back to the community before hawking it.

I mean, there were some people here interested in it. If that is his, and it certainly looks like it, I agree with modernbeat.

Meh. It's his car. He can do what he wants with it. Currently at $500 so still challenge material. If you want it I say bid on it!

I don't know if I agree with you. There were a lot of offline promises made similar to this one:

I am pretty sure Winston didn't offer this car to this community intending for it to be for profiteering, and the fact is that the only reason he offered it to Snowdoggie is because he responded 21 minutes earlier than I did. I spoke to both Winston and Snowdoggie about this before the deal was done.

I am not upset (the truth is I would have a hard time doing this project right now), and yes, it is his car, so he can do what he wants. But that is NOT the way it works around here.

3 different people have attempted to build this car as a Challenger, and I missed buying it twice by inches. I'm sad that the opportunity for a really cool Challenger has been lost. Disappointing.

I agree with Nashco and the rest. Lame.

If you really want your old car back and you promise to come up here and get it, I will cancel the auction right now and it's yours. You can even use my trailer to drag it home. That offer goes to anybody else here who will come out here and pick it up in a reasonable amount of time.

The first time around I offered to step down and give it to the SvRex considering the fact that it would be a long time before I would be able to get around to it and he didn't return my e-mail. Nobody else here showed any interest in it other than to say that it would be a cool project and joke that there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Lotus. Therefore I assumed there was no interest in the car here.

It is sitting here deteriorating on the trailer in my backyard and I have two other projects I am working on. I remember reading a few articles by Tim that were critical of people who hoarded projects and let them rot away, so up on e-bay it went.

If anybody here is serious about picking the car up and making something of it, either a Challenge Car or a Vintage Race Car or whatever, not just sticking it in THEIR backyard to rot away, or talking about what they would do with it here and not coming to pick it up, let me know and come and get it RIGHT NOW. I will cancel the auction and you can use my trailer to take it home as long as you bring the trailer back when you are done hauling it.

This car deserves a good home. It does NOT need to rot away in anybody's backyard.

Hang on, S.D. I certainly did respond. I backed down because you had beaten me to it, fair and square, which I communicated very clearly. You told me it would be a while before you could do anything, and I asked for the opportunity to be considered if you ever sold it.

You are welcome to make whatever decisions you need to, but please don't misrepresent what I said.

I'm interested, but I need a little time to make arrangements to get it before I can promise to be there right away.

Can you give me a couple of days to make arrangements?

This car deserves a good home. It does NOT need to rot away in anybody's backyard.

And by selling it on Ebay to the highest bidding 17yo you are guaranteeing this how?

I hear ya. I'm not that familiar with the ethos of the Challenge. I can see your POV on this.

Sounds like a second chance is in the offing!

To me, it's not the ethos of the challenge, it's the ethos of being a stand up member of the car community. You get a deal, you pass a deal along. It's, wait for it, CARMA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The guy who offered to bring it to the Challenge for me may also be able to pick it up earlier, if the 3 weeks between now and the Challenge is too long for you to wait.

I emailed you my cell phone number.

I've got the perfect drivetrain sitting in my garage, and my lift is available. Won't rot here.

Let me know what you'd like to do.

Yeah, while I agree it is the current owners choice to seek to dispose of the car and whom to, I must say statements were made that were pretty close to promises, at least in this wonderful GRM community.

IMHO

It's all yours. I cancelled the auction. Just let me know when you want to pick it up.
