Hi everyone!
I'm new here. I was interested in this in summer but with covid-19 flaring in Florida, I chose to wait until 2021. Back in august, I picked up an 88 Plymouth Reliant wagon for $500 with the intent of competing next year. It's a rarity in that it's for a 5 speed manual, and in the next few months I'll be installing the 2.2 Turbo I engine I got for $500. Have there been any comparable cars in the years past?
Thanks!

Welcome aboard, fellow Floridian! Be sure to click the red print "yes" in Cooter's reply.
It's a link to the GRM article. It should provide lots of inspiration.
Quiet a few "K" cars have taken part over the years. Some have done VERY well. Good luck and start a build thread so the other Shelby Dodge guys can chime in.
There is plenty of love here for these cars.

The Aries ran from 2009-2012. Ran 11s in the quarter mile :) Plymouth Voyagers and Dodge Caravans have competed, too, along with some other K derivatives. You'll be in good company.
Bobzilla, a 1999 Kia Rio ran in the 2004 Challenge. At the time, it was the newest car to run. Not sure that record has been broken yet.

You mean a 5 year old car? Or a car newer than 1999? Because I'm sure there have been cars newer than 1999 to run, but not sure if anything has competed that is less than 5 years old.
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
5 year old car, we've definitely had a lot of later model cars run since, they were just older the years they showed up at the challenge.
