Im looking for a sub 1k dollar car for me!

Maybe my last posts title wasnt defined enough... Maybe this new title is better!

Anybody local to SE Michigan have anything with decent gas mileage for sale? I need something, as one of my Escorts took a poop. Actually its trans took a poop, and its too rusty for me to want to put a new one in. So...Whats out there? I like escorts and would like to find a niceish one to put my motor in, if one turned up with a bad motor...Maybe a rusty beater Miata? I have everything I need to make one run right!

Look farther than Michigan. If you look around Indy, there's a few last i knew. I'm willing to go look at any you happen to find.

I wouldn't sell you mine, for three reasons:

1) The GF drives it, it's her DD when my cars are running
2) I couldn't let it go for $1000
3) You don't want it. The motor is on it's last legs after 268k miles, the head is trashed, and it burns oil like no other. Still loves the redline, though.

Double your budget and the MX6 is yours, though, maybe, i think...

Hmm, sub $1k newish (as in the last 2 decades) cars in decent running condition would be:

• Escort
• Neon
• Saturn
• Cavalier/SunFire j-body cars
• I hear the GM 3800 cars are usually a good deal too.

The maybe list:

• Protege
• Gen 2 integra
• older civic/accord
• volvo
• miata
• corolla/camry

I'd get anything that's been well kept and in good running condition. It sucks to buy that $800 car and then end up spending $1000 to fix it.

Add 4th gen Celica GT/GTS and 5th gen Celica ST to that list.

Joey, there's some nice Neons down here in your price range. Make a day trip out of it.

There's even a passable 5th gen Celica for around your budget as well.

I think we talked him into putting a transmission in it.

Will it at least be a real transmission? Not that the manuals are any more robust, mind you.

I dunno... i kindof view 2nd gen Escorts as disposable. Break one? Costs more than $200 and an hour to fix? Get another one.
