What do you have left to do?
On the holy spirit, we have to:
-swap a trans
-find/make a driveshaft
-get new front shocks and update the upper shock mounts
-make a fiberglass hood?
-Test autox
-test drags
Those are the big things I think.
EGT: brake refresh
Finish louvers
Weld patch panel in quarter, paint
Fix dash crack
Limited slip and Kia axles
Make slotted top hats for front
Install coilovers
Remove pealing purple tint, possibly replace with black tint
Polish, wax
The 323 list is pages long.
There is more than one being built in Secret, The one I know of is about 5 thou. short of being finished.
Hour's that is.
LOL
everything. I don’t even know if anything will be ready. Honestly it won’t take me long to wire and plumb, the hardest part right now is getting motivated to fix my welder so it’s ready when it is warm enough to bother going outside.
Well since the car is stripped to the shell, just put it back together. By car show standards this should take no more than 2 or 3 days so there's plenty of time.

If you just have to put it back together, by parking lot standards that's like half a day.
Well... we are picking up the motor and transmission for our car this weekend... so... yeah... everything.
Critical Path-
1. Install camber arms, set suspension height
2. Repair rear quarter (bondo or weld?) and add paint job
3. Install Turbo kit and tune
4. Buy tires
5. Test Autox, Learn drag
If I get lucky and a LSD drops on my head we may add that. No idea how helpful it would be.
Make it run. I have so much room in the budget but I'm not going to do anything and go as super cheap as I can this round.
The car currently goes into limp mode because it's got an automatic and some issue not worth diagnosing.
The parts pile currently contains:
Manual trans/driveshaft/clutch swap
Coilover install
Make delrin suspension bushings
Fresh pads/rotors
Piece the interior back together for gastropodiness
That will resolve the issues we know about after driving it out of the previous owners garage and onto a trailer.
Oh.....and I promised Ms. klodkrawler I wouldn't monkey with it until I finished school in June. Not going to give much time for testing.
Get the S10 running again, and figure out how to spend ~$500 of budget. I’m torn between improving my concours performance and maximizing my potential dynamic score versus doing work that I’d eventually want to do to the truck anyway.
It could use a paint job, and tons of detailing/cleanup in the engine compartment and interior.
The engine is a stock 305 TBI that I could potentially replace with a carb’d 350 if I find the right deals, but I eventually want an LS swap, so that’s extra work/expense just for the challenge.
It needs some sort of traction aid, so a LSD would be nice, but someday, I want to do an 8.8” rear end swap. Maybe I’ll fab up a set of slapper bars or caltracs-style bars, since those could be used on a different rear axle in the future.
Probably could use a rear sway bar for the autox.
I still have the torque converter that came with the 4.3/700R4 originally in the truck, but need to figure out a way to flush it, since the trans dying is what supposedly got the truck parked anyway, and I don’t want to risk damaging the current transmission. If it’s usable, should be good for a few hundred RPM higher stall speed.
In reply to eastsideTim :
If you don't find some slapper bars by the challenge let me know and I'll bring mine down. I should have no need for them by that point.
In reply to Andy Neuman :
Careful saying that too loud, you'll end up with a Mazda dropped off at your house.

As long as it runs

Gas-tro-pod!
Ive driven one autocross. Still have to sort, clean, paint, fic whats broke, install nitrous....
And this was last years planned car!
Suspension, swap rear ends, engine work, paint and graphics.... good news is car runs and drives and could compete today. It needs to be made a llt better though.
