I need a Manual transmission from a VW. It just needs to bolt to a 1999 2.0L block. If you have anything from a neuBeetle or Jetta it would be great but I would be happy with an earlier box. Shifter components and axles would be appreciated as well.
Also, I am cheap.

I might have one from my Scirocco available soon, that should fit. No shifter components or axles though.
That's fine, I can source them but if someone had some out already I would be interested too.
Too bad it weren't out this weekend, I am in Columbus as of sunday.
Well it may be out this weekend (hopefully tomorrow) but I don't want to sell it until I have another one secured. I am planning to buy an engine/trans together in Cinci this weekend, probably Sunday if the seller is available. If I get that you could pick it up on your way back from Columbus.
Check mail for my cell number, I will be off line this weekend.
Got it, I will let you know if it is available.
You do know that the 020 will take a decent amount of fabricating to install into an NB, right? If you use an 020, it will bolt to the engine, but you'll have to fab mounts, shifter assembly, figure out how to attach a cable to the pedal assembly, and use an 020 clutch assembly. You'll also have to make sure you get the right clutch disk for the transmission that you get (there's two different splines) and make sure you get the right pressure plate for the flywheel (they make two different ones). An 02A will be a little easier, since you can use the factory MKIV clutch, flywheel, shifter, shifter cables, pedal assembly, clutch master and slave cyls, etc., but you'll still need to fabricate something to mount it in the car. The problem there is those are going to be harder to find, since the only 02A's with a 4cyl bell housing were the Passat and Corrado, and they're slightly desirable since they're a bolt in for a MKII. So yeah, if it's just going to be a Challenge car and you want to do it as cheaply as possible, go to the U-Pull and get all the crap from the same car and go to town, and spend very little money and a E36 M3load of time making it all work If you actually want to retain some resale value, get an 02J and the related parts from a MKIV, and just bolt it all together. You probably already know this, but just making sure.
No I don't which is why I bow to your greatness.
Making mounts is no big issue., BUT making it work with a factory pedal box is. (I am currently looking for one of those also)
What chassis that trans is going into will effect things as well. If it's a 99 it's a split year so it being a Mk3 or a Mk4 will make a difference. If it's older stuff, an 83 trans will bolt to a 99 block but won't bolt into a 85+ car, etc.
1999 New Beetle originally a 2.0L AEG Auto. Currently assessing the cost to value differences between installing a M90 supercharger and manual trans on the 2.0L or removing it all and installing a GM V6.
There are a couple MKIV's in the local U-Pull yards, so I might be able to come up with a pedal assembly on the cheap.
NB = Mk4 really, trans you need is an o2j, avail in the 2L, TDI and 1.8t.
I vote GM V6 though I'm not sure if that solves your trans problem!
It would, it just makes a bigger problem with the axle shafts.
