Hi I'm selling my 4000cs.
Here are some more pictures and contact info http://imgur.com/a/MxPJo
It has been my sole daily driver for the last 5+ years and is very reliable. Still currently inspected, registered, insured. It's been through NJ state inspection 3 times (emissions only) and it always has passed first time.
Engine runs great and all gears/synchros seem to be in great shape as well. CIS-E has never given me any problems. Both locking differentials work along with their indicator lights. Interior is in great shape; seats are excellent, all gauges work accept odometer, seat belts click and retract. Windows/sunroof no longer work since deer (more below). Central door locking doesn't work and keeps blowing a fuse...(I haven't locked the car in years) Exterior is rusting in the typical places. Driver side fender and front area dented from the deer (more below).
Like any obsessed car owner I've accumulated tons of spare parts including a spare 2.2l i5 engine and 016 trans. The parts come with the car, and if you get the car you will get first dibs on a very cheap extra engine+trans. heres a list of the parts included:
I've replaced lots of parts over the 5 years. Here are some I can think of: halfshaft, brake hose, air filter, shifter bushing, etc. Fuel lines upgraded to nylon, some brake lines upgraded to cupronickel. New front brakes/rotors (under 6months old) installed 4 very lightly used tires (under 6 months old, under 5000 miles total on them)
The bad: I hit a deer in December and have been using another car primarily now. Still, I've been taking it to work about 1x a week to keep it moving, but right now I have 3 project cars (none that are Audi) and do not want another. The car needs some work. Headlight is one thing, plus when I hit the deer, it somehow made the driver side window fall off the track so it's held up with tape. There are other odds and ends like the ebrake has loosened up and the exhaust is cobbled together and should be looked at. Also the sunroof stopped working...to be honest problems like this are piling up.
Ideas: This would be a great foundation for a race car or offroader. It is bone stock and already a little beaten in. I've had dreams of making some sort of jacked up rally/madmax car but as mentioned before, I have 3 other project cars and they are taking all of my time. It was only intended to be a fun 4x4 + manual trans daily beater.
Transfer of ownership: If you're within 50 miles, I can load the parts up in the trunk, drive it to you, sign the title away, then take the plates. I'm confident it would make it cross country, but because of time I can't do great distances. I can transport it farther, but we would have to agree on a reasonable fee for getting it there (and everything would need to be paid upfront).
If you have any questions or just curious, please let me know. It's pretty much scrap value but this thing has been a champ for me and I'd hate to see it go to the crusher.
I love these cars. I have some trim bits but they are at my NY house but I don't know when I'll be there again.

Hi Ron thanks for your interest it's a little later here now but I'll give you a call in the AM tomorrow.

Thanks markwemple that reminds me, the trim that is missing in the pictures I do have, the select pieces are taken off for various reasons...door trim was because it was falling off, grill/headlight trim because this is how you open the hood (hood cable is broken)
BTW the car comes with 3 identical keys that work in every lock. 1 of the keys is factory and here's what it looks like.
Compare this to 2014 Audi keys that are about the size of an early 2000s cell phone. Look how far we've come!
:-) always have some old audi love. Had a 5000cs quattro, v8 quattro, and A8 4.2 quattro. Buddy has a V8 and 5k still, did a full suspension on the one. They are really fun cars, though not always a reliable car to own. The 4k really is up there in reliability compared to the complex v8s or 5cyl turbos.
Guys interested probably already know 034's site as well as Audifans/qworld, but good places to get some audi knowledge/parts.
Best of luck, and hope you either fix it up or find it a good home!
Is the 4000 still available? I'm an true Audi enthiuast with several 4000's and really need your car Please call me ASAP Thank you Andrew 917-843-1526
Hi Mark Do you have any parts beside the moulding I'm restoring 2 4000's and need a lot of stuff Thank you Andrew
Not in MD with me. I have bits from a grey interior but they've been in the basement for sometime so mold may have taken them. I'm sure I have other bits. I know I have a few good used VAG door handles. I used to collect them (doesn't everyone with that era car). Also some random relays, etc.
Still got it decafe, been digging myself out from the snow last few days. Also rounding up parts. Here's something I forgot, original paper work that came new with the car (also included with sale)
I think I have a Haynes manual in the basement for this thing. If you buy it, PM me. I'll send it to you for free. Hate to throw that stuff away.
A.

Hey,
I'm interested in purchasing this car. I am local and can come out to see it ASAP. Please contact me at neer2005@gmail.com
hi again, been a bad winter weather wise. Still have the car, I've tried contacting the people who left their emails but didn't hear anything back. If you would like to contact, check out all the pictures in the gallery above. There you will find my contact info.
update: still have the car. I hadn't started it in about a month because I needed the battery, but I have since put a new battery in the other project and the old one back in. Car fired right up. Drove it about hour with no problems.
Yes, it's still reg and insured and I will probably drive it 100miles this week just to cycle the gas in it.
I will likely be scrapping this if there's no interest in the next 2 weeks so let me know before it goes!
