I'm just not going to get to this car.
FULL DISCLOSURE: It's been sitting for 3 years and could use at least a weekend's worth of love, but it IS a solid car that i drove for years before i parked it. It started right up a year and a half ago with a jump, i don't know if it would do so now, and i'm not guaranteeing it will. THIS CAR WILL NEED TO BE TOWED AWAY.
Located in Indianapolis, and price is not horribly negotiable. I WILL accept a trade in the form of a V8Roadsters rear end and an RX7 TII transmission.
If you feel sorry for me getting rid of my most favorite car ever, you'd let me keep the bumper, but no hard feelings if you simply must have it.
Details: 1992 with clean title, no real rust to speak off. (Small bubble at top of windshield less than a dime's size, same for rear window.) Unknown miles, but over 200k. (Swapped cluster, i did it.) Has small hail dents on roof and hood, body is impressively clean otherwise. Paint is starting to burn, but the car is still pretty presentable. Interior is gutted from front seats back, including headliner. Windshield has a 6-8" crack. Exhaust not in the greatest of shape, but factory replacement parts are CHEAP on Rockauto.
Car is wearing EBC Greenstuff pads right now that should still be ok. Needs new rotors. This car would make a GREAT track toy with a weekend of work. I've NEVER to this day driven a car that handled like this, hands down the best handling car i've ever owned. HUGE grip, TONS of stability, and great feedback. Screw it, this very car is the best car i've ever owned, PERIOD.
I'll miss it, but its time is up with me.
Modifications:
Megan Racing Coilovers. 8k/6k spring rates.
Custom front and rear strut tower bracing. (3-point in back)
Cut Honda cold air intake of some sort
GTS/AllTrac front widebody fenders
RC/Carlos Sainz front bumper
Some ugly 17" Volk knockoff wheels with bald tires
GTS/AllTrac seats
GTS 150mph gauge cluster
Kirkosaurus poly engine mount inserts
Will come with:
90-93 Celica Convertible side skirts
FULL set of SuperPro suspension bushings. (This was ludicrously expensive)
3sgte w/ spun bearing. This motor SHOULD be ok if disassembled and cleaned, but i was going to use it for a stroker build using the block and crank in the car currently.
Custom car cover with locking cable
Available for extra money/dealing/whatever:
Seibon CF AllTrac-style hood
Celica AllTrac north/south crossmember
JDM vented taillights
JDM corner lights
JDM - matching clear bumper lights
Bunch of factory CF-look trim pieces. (impossible to find in good shape these days)
JDM folding mirrors
JDM factory rain guards
TRD Japan E153 LSD (i was going to put this in a Solara trans and attach to 3sgte stroker)

Get it and start doing track days on the cheap. That's really the best fit for this car at this point. For $2500 total investment, you could have a great HPDE car to beat the everliving snot out of.
$1300 if i keep the front bumper. Should give you PLENTY of money to find another bumper out of the junkyard and get it painted.
If someone is willing to put an interior back in it, this is a good start to a local STC car, or even an FSP build. (Front fenders are legal in FSP, are NOT in STC. You can run ALL THE TIRE with the fenders currently on the car.)
Chumpcar?
singleslammer wrote: I might consider that but I don't think it would be quite a straight trade.
What if i threw in EVERYTHING i have? The TRD diff i have is about a $1000-$1500 piece alone, the bushings were just about $500, etc etc etc...
I even have a set of 16x8 +35 Enkei RP01s Special Editions i COULD let go of.
But yeah, i know what you mean. While i know i have well over what you'd probably sell the MR-S for wrapped up in the Celica and all its parts, i'm pretty realistic about what the car itself is worth as it sits, i believe.
My heart wanted me to post this thing @ $2500, but i don't think it would move at that price. It would if i went through it myself, but if i go through it, then i won't be able to bring myself to sell it. And i need it to go. I don't want it to go, but it needs to go.
It seems like an awesome car but I think I would be moving in the wrong direction especially if I did a straight trade, and my wife would kill me.

Heh true story. (And i think you'd be moving in the wrong direction as well.)
Not to mention acquiring another car to replace this car would get me in the doghouse.
I have 7 cars right now... trying to get back down to 5. Celica needs to go, and i need to crush my other MX6.

You have a second MX6?

Yes. It's gross. I bought it from Garaithon on here. Pics are in the "Miata rear end ratios" thread.

This thread.
Which also explains why getting rid of the Celica AND crushing that MX6 gets me down to 5. Yep. Got another Miata. Yep, it's time for a quick and dirty F2T swap in a Miata.
I love this car. My love for it is bolstered by how much you love it. If I only I could drive it home...

Honestly if you came out here with a battery, a set of brake rotors, and we made a few trips with a gas can to dilute the crap that's in there, it would probably drive away. (I would still HIGHLY suggest towing.)
I did start it and drive it about 2 miles a year and a half ago.
But just to be perfectly clear, the picture in the OP is about 3 years old. It hasn't really moved since then, so it's not quite the creampuff it was then, but it's still solid. Just really dirty, some sun fade, and probably some minor moisture issues inside. (It fogs up pretty good in the mornings on the inside. Guessing the windshield that needs to be replaced anyways isn't sealing incredibly well.)
If you're serious about wanting it, but the driving home part is the issue, come out and look at it. If you want it bad enough, we can work out a delivery. Buddy has a truck and i can deliver the car for gas money.
This car will also be posted on JDM Chicago and Craigslist this coming week. Somebody here needs a race car before then!
