Sold!!!
I picked this up on trade a few months ago and dont really have plans or a need for it. I have not done a thing to this car other than take the tire off (its back on now). The previous owner told me he swapped in the motor but never finished the install so I do not know its condition. He cut out the spare tire well and put in a flat floor. He also added the center exit exhaust and converted to round lights. There are some extra parts that come with it but nothing too exciting (extra head, seats, cracked taillights, stuff like that). It is a solid car with the worst rust being the hole in the rocker shown. I would strip it the rest of the way for a track car but I am focusing on my MK2 and need the garage space. Somebody should buy this before i turn it into a chicken coop (if it was a four door I would make a chicken sedan)
Like a rookie I forgot two important things
1- Its in Imlay City, Michigan
2- 450 buckaroos!
Title?
Are you the guy selling the 260z on craigslist?

Yes on the title, no on the 260z
Its already almost a racecar! Look at this!
If somebody plans it right they can buy the 4x4 van and tow dolly listed here in the classifieds and then head on up north a bit and grab themselves a Bunny.
Bump because this is cool. And cheap. And close. And has a title. And is cool. And cheap. And close. And is cool.
SO, er, anybody want to buy an RX-7? Comes with a remarkably vast spares package*

- "Spares" = stacks of broken transmissions

I'll trade you for a Saab 99.

Thanks for the kind words. I have it listed a couple places but have recieved no interest other than "I wish you werent so far" (I have driven, flat towed, dolley towed and trailer towed all over the country getting the next great project so I never understood that reasoning). I hate to scrap a MK1 but its in my way and needs to go soon.
Look! It even has a powertrain!
Scrap? What can I trade you? 280z block? Datsun wheels? SU carbs? 510 valve cover? BMW 1600 beat up hub caps? 80's Schwinn LeTour bicycle for a tall guy? 240z side windows? 240z wooden steering wheel?
Hi, have you tried 24 lemons forums? If it were a 4 dr I would have been interested good luck on the sale

Does someone have a 99 they don't need?
HHmm, OK, you’ve got the juices going here.
I know nothing of VW’s other they are old, light and cool. So, some Q’s:
1. When you say the PO was swapping the engine in but didn’t finish connecting it up, what engine was he swapping in? Another stock unit as the previous one died, or some common/uncommon VW geek letter speak swap from and ABC1 to an ABC2???
2. How near installed is the engine? i.e. is everything apparently connected up but it won’t start or is it just sitting there? I can see the alternator just lying there, but lots of wires appear to be heading in approximately the correct direction.
3. The rot in the rockers, is it just the outer or are the inners gone too?
4. What about the floor pans?
5. What / how much interior is there in the car.
6. How complete is it?

- He swapped in a stock replacement. A 84 8v 1.8 from a GTI into a 84 8v GTI. No crazy VR6, LS1, or 4bt swaps to figure out.
- I think most everything is connected on the engine harness. The crank/water pump pullys are missing (i took those for my Jetta months ago) but as far as I know everything else is there.
3 4. That is the only hole and its the outer drivers panel. The floors are solid. I will try and get some more pictures tonight.
5 6. Both front seats are in the car. He gave me the rear seat seperate. The headliner is missing. Some rear cargo trim is missing. The fuel filler hose is missing (he said he was prepping for a fuel cell). Still has the 28 year old carpet. The front windshield is cracked. I have spare glass for the hatch and quarter window but the ones on the car are fine. It appears everything needed to make it go is there, with the exception of the pullys that is. I dont know how long it has been sitting. He had it in a carport and it has been inside my garage since I got it in February.
I have no idea why he cut this hole by the fuel filler
I might suggest posting it on www.michiganvw.org forums as well.
...then again I'm not sure if they allow new people to post classifieds right away. If not I'll post this up for you tonight on there.

Ive been a member for a couple months, but since I tend to be a lurker rather than poster I havent hit the minimum amount of posts yet.
Do you have a horse? If so you can use this as a Conestoga wagon and reenact the Oregon Trail! In this day and age you dont even have to worry about dysentery.
Do you live on a snowy mountain? Replace the wheels with skis and go sleigh riding without the discomfort of the wind.
Do you have a monster truck that is too small to crush Buicks? Buy this and put on a show at the local fairgrounds.
The point is he wants to sell the RX-7 to get the GTI...
Not really a threadjack.
