I am cleaning out some of my stuff and came across this Ford Aerostar bell housing that fits the SHO V6 yamaha motor that many people want to use in RWD applications. I had purchased it for my Challenge Spitfire, but ended up going the Turbo 2.3 route. I wanted to offer it here on GRM first as I would like to see it go to someone building a challenge car. If not, it will be sold on ebay. I paid $100 for it at Carlisle many years ago, I'll sell it to anyone here for $75 as long as you send a picture of the completed car when you are done

Yes and these bell housings are from the ultra rare 3.0L 5sp rwd aerostars......allows a t-5 trans to pretty much bolt up to a g1/2 sho v6. berkeley, if the v6 would fit in my bimmer I'd call second tibs on this... But its too tall.

I saw aerostar and got excited, since i used to have one. It was even the 3.0 5 speed version....but it went to the great JY in the sky at 212k miles. if only I had known!

Sure, can do paypal. Call me at 240-401-0609 and I can get you the paypal address and get your address so I can let you know the shipping cost. It is pretty light, so it should not be too much. Thanks - Dave

Was this something different than what is used in a Ranger, etc.

A picture would be nice.

Yup and built like a tank. A good friend had one for years when it was only a few years old. Got it for next to nothing as no one wanted an MTX mini van. Don't every try and take out the rear seats on your own, there were lighter sub compacts in the 80's than those 'removable' rear seats

IIRC, the ranger's bellhousing wasn't removable.....you can use a 3.0L OHV manual trans from the ranger behind a sho engine when on a budget, but they allegedly won't last forever like a t5 will.

It should be a ranger trans/throwout/slave, mid 90's GTP clutch disc, and sho flywheel/pressure plate for doing that.

Would this be the same bell housing as the one found in the Lincoln LS models with the Duratec V6 and manual transmission?

No, this bellhousing would have been for the 3L ohv "vulcan" engine in the aerostar.....the SHO v6 shares that OHV bellhousing. The v8 sho shares the 2.5/3.0 "Duratec" bellhousing. The Lincoln v6 trans is the only way to RWD swap a v8 sho engine as a complete bolt in affair.
