Guys, i'm in a hell of a bind because Rockauto has berkeleyed me once again and seems to have dropped to a 60% success rate in sending correct parts/having the correct parts listed on their site.
I need a 3-bolt intermediate shaft for a 2.5 V6 Probe/MX6 or a 1.8 MX3. I would PREFER the MX3 unit just so we leave all variables out of it, but the Probe/MX6 part SHOULD be the same.
I cannot use the 2-bolt variant.
I can say for sure that the 3-bolt variant came on the 92-93 cars, but beyond that, i'm afraid i don't know. I'm told they might have come on the late 626s.
I'll throw $50 for one.
What is an intermediate shaft? Like an intermediate steering shaft?
Axle, sorry... It's the piece that comes out of the transmission and then connects to passenger side axle.
Part circled in this picture. This is NOT the actual correct piece, this is for a 2.0 litre i4 car.
According to my work computer, this is what fits, assuming you want it for a 5 speed.
Mazda 626 '93 Front Axle; 6 cyl, MT, R., jack shaft
Mazda MX-3 '92-93 6 cyl, MT, R., jack shaft
Mazda MX-6 '93 6 cyl, MT, R., jack shaft
Mazda 626 '98-99 Front Axle; 6 cyl, MT, R., jack shaft
Mazda MX-6 '95 4 cyl, MT, R., jack shaft

That sounds right, thank you!
Now if Rockauto would only have that same information.
I just txt ya, possiblt one on a Probe GT in my local parts yard. I'll call tomorrow and let ya know what I find.
Hey Dan, i might have one on the way... If you don't mind checking if that Probe has one, that'd be cool, but don't take the time to pull it just yet.
