No way- leave the 70's van-tastic paint. Let it patina, stick some gun nut stickers on it and go. You'd NEVER get messed with.
I would satin black the whole thing, tint it, yellow LaminX over the headlights, lower it a couple inches, and put a bunch of chrome horns on the roof.
