Looking to see if anyone has a cheap radiator for my v8 Morris that I ran in the challenge last year. I don't think the civic radiator that I plugged in last minute is quite up to the task (and it's back in my civic).
I need something that is roughy 22" x 18" x 2.5". If anyone has a spare radiator laying around that size or an idea what I can pull one out of. The one I originally had was a Volvo one with "1266686 013 8110" on the top but the google machine failed me in finding another so far.

I would just do an ebay search for "radiator aluminum" or "Griffin radiator," sort by lowest price+shipping, and just go down the list until you find the dimensions/layout you're looking for.

Not much luck on eBay finding the dimensions. Either 4 cylinder ones that might not cool or ones that are too wide. Looking like a junkyard run just not sure what models might have it or what Volvo the one I have came put of.

Thanks. Gives me a good starting point. Hoping to run the car in the challenge again this year so I will need a less expensive option but that can help. Or give me something to use whenever I am not at the challenge with the car.
Where are the inlet and outlets and what diameter are they

65-66 Mustang is roughly that size and cheap on ebay, about $120 if you look hard. But, obviously it has Ford outlets, which are the opposite of Chevy outlets, and you didn't say which V8 you are using, but a radiator shop can switch the outlets for a few bucks.. Also, the Ford T-Bird Supercoupes use a similar sized radiator if you can find one in the junkyard. A regular t-bird has a wide radiator, a Supercoupe radiator is narrow because the intercooler is stacked next to it.

For what it's worth, you shouldn't be overheating with such short run times if the cooling system is working properly, even with a small radiator.
- Get your engine tuned properly so you're not creating more heat than you should.
- Make sure your head gasket isn't leaking and pushing air into the cooling system.
- Make sure your cooling system doesn't have ANY air in it...custom cooling systems often overlook this detail and I've learned the hard way that you absolutely must remove all air from the system (no high points, no air traps, fill from the highest point, etc.).
- Make sure your cooling system pressurizes properly. You should have a ~13-16 psi radiator cap that seals properly, which allows a higher temperature in the cooling system before boiling.
- Make sure your thermostat opens and closes properly (you can put it in a pot over a stove with a thermometer to check this if you don't want to buy a new one or don't trust your new one).
- Make sure your cooling fan is working properly and uses a shroud to effectively cool the entire radiator cooling fin surface.
- Make sure your water pump and belt drive are in good working order.
Overheating after 60 minutes in a parade in Texas will certainly happen with an undersized radiator, even with all of the above precautions. However, a smallish radiator with all of the above things corrected should still be able to cool your V8 for autocross/drag passes pretty well, especially if you shut it down for a while in between passes. There's been more than one $20xx vehicle that didn't even bother with a radiator!

I have a BeCool radiator, 60033 is written on the bottom in paint pen.
23" w X 19" h X 3" dp. Aluminum, top outlet is 1.5" on the right and the bottom is 1.75" on the left. (looking from the engine)

There were some timing issues and a short from the plug wire. Thanks for the responses.

Thanks Bryce. My engine is definitely not running proper as I was saying it was breaking up badly under load on the drag strip. Not sure if this was too much advanced timing, wires crossed, overheated or the shorted plug wires. The block got pretty heat soaked so I am hoping everything is ok (I don't want to have to go through the motor again).
To be safe though once I work all that out I want a proper radiator so I can look at tracking the car eventually.
As for air in the lines that is on the agenda of things to address when I swap radiators.

I will look for a super coupe in the junkyard I think as a first step.
914driver thank you I will need to check but I think a 23" will involve cutting and recreating the radiator mount but I will measure and double check. Also the price is great but I need to check budget if I want to be able to use it for next years challenge (unless I pop the civic radiator in again for the weekend). I will get back to you.

I've got an aluminum 3 inch radiator. About 18 across the top by 22. Top inlet on passenger side, bottom outlet on drivers. Has fill on drivers top.
$100 plus shipping. Located in Daytona.
I have an aluminum radiator from a 98 Grand Prix 3.8 liter. No idea on dimensions, it was purchased for a car 6 years ago and is brand new in the box on the shelf. The car is long gone. $70 plus shipping.

Sorry for the delayed response been really busy. Found the matching radiator with integrated trans cooler for what we designed into the car originally at the junkyard. I appreciate the offers and might reach back out if I run into issues.
