Got a buddy who's really passionate about wanting to do a Mustang 'vert project. He wants a classic- 1964-1969, but he doesn't need a restoration. Motor swap, non-original, etc. OK.
Major rust cases are NOT OK.
Anybody know of any?

Yes, $8500 in 60963. Newer interior, bodywork ok, decent chrome & trim. Needs a top. I don't know the seller very well, but I can track down his number. Here's the only crappy pic I took.
Nope. Too nice- it's out of his budget.
He needs a project. A rolling shell, or even a vert chassis are OK starting points.
He probably needs to be in the $2500 range for a roller, tops.
He'd cut a coupe and put it on a vert chassis if necessary.
A Challenge priced project or a complete running car that needs work under $5K.

Its not a chassis... its a unibody.

Not gonna happen. 64-66 Vert is on the wife's dream list. I've personally been looking for just such a project for over 10 years now.
Roller with rust will still bring $3k or better. Anything under that is being sold for the VIN so you can start from scratch.
Finding a HARDTOP in that price range, and in that condition will be a stretch. NOT, impossible, just difficult. Strangely enough, you can sometimes find a Cougar (tho, it's a coupe, obviously) in that price range and at that price point, or a Falcon/Comet.
If you are like most of us, you will settle for a coupe and then within weeks the 'vert you wanted will show up.
More realistic price point? Try $5,000.
