For the many P71s I've driven, the lag isn't in the throttle, it is in the transmission.

As in, so bad you have to floor it at the start of the turn to get proper timing on exit acceleration.

The amount and severity of the beatings these cars can take on a regular basis is pretty darn impressive. I was very surprised when I learned Ford decided to stop making them.

The crown Vic is a highly reliable car. The last few years had a Watts link in the rear and handled very good, for a cat of this size. With a body on frame design they can take a beating. I have seen a couple of cars over the years with a manual swap. I don't recall where I saw it but someone had a console from a FWD ford with a manual transmission that blended in well with the interior materials and colors. A buddy sent this to me a few years ago.
