Lots more to say when I have time to type it, but for now I'll just post this.
3200 miles over 5 days. Made it from VA to Scranton, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Morgantown, Beckley, Bristol, Asheville, Tail of the dragon, Nashville, Memphis, and Birmingham. What a week. Truck never skipped a beat.
You are a mad man! I love it.

I really like your truck, man!
Ok, this is one of the coolest truck builds I've ever seen. I want one.
You have me wanting to cut up my DD Vic to do this... It is awesome!
Thanks. However it should be noted that the truck is no where near "done" yet.
For instance: view from the office. Crown vic gauges zip tied in place, ashtray isn't even installed, radio hole is hacked out, etc.
That's not the worst "modern gauge cluster stuck in an old Ford dash" I've seen.
Judge Phil caught a good shot of the truck on the Tail of the Dragon
Next time you are down this way, ill volunteer to help you make the interior a nicer place. I probably have all the parys and supplies that wed need. Except a factory gauge cluster to chop up.
Oh my god. This truck is beautiful.
Your truck made me smile every time I saw it in the background of any of the LeMons Rally videos.
Love the build. I keep thinking this might be the way to go on my 54 Ford.
Thanks for the compliments. I really need to finish this thread, and get back to working on the truck. Went to drive it last week and the tail lights were out. Started troubleshooting today and found that the handful of connectors that I didn't get to waterproof/grease/tape up in the back of the truck were so inundated with salt slurry that the pins corroded out of them!!!! I spliced a couple of wires to get them functioning again to drive it around but the fix is going to be all new (and probably waterproof) connectors! Berkeley Salt!!!!!!
Oh, and I replaced the passenger mirror, because this happened when my co-driver shut the door in Morgantown
When we stopped to see Don Knotts (and my millennial co-driver didn't know who Don Knotts or Barney Fife were....)
What a motley crew this was....
Oh man I love this! Might get my grandfathers 64 f100 and it will need disc of front. I might just do the vic front end.
Also if you have photos of the steering set up id love to see them. Trying to assemble the crown vic front end in my head before I start on the truck!
Not much to update, mostly just been driving the truck to work occasionally and around town on weekends. Oh, and I decided that I wanted to go autox'ing, and I don't currently have a sports car, soooooo I took the truck...
Pic that one of the other racers' wife took
It was in one of the lots at Richmond International Raceway, so of course I had to take another obligatory racetrack shot
All in all it did pretty well. Could definitely use stiffer springs/swaybars, lots of body roll. And it's on miserable all seasons, so that doesn't help either. But in spite of my cruddy driving I wasn't DFL, which has got to be embarrassing to some of the folks I beat.
I also got tired of looking at steel wheels. Due to the Vic's track width wheel options are limited, but I thought late model mustang offsets might work well, so I picked up a used set of 17's. I like them because they're kind of a Torq Thrust style, and are a little modern with a classic vibe, at a fraction of the cost of aftermarket wheels. Even have Ford center caps.
Late night pic, I'll be sure to get some better ones soon.

I'll try to remember to get some. It was REALLY straightforward other than having to shift the steering column up a little.
Wow thought this was your truck, had to take a good look to see that it was not!
Still a cool truck on it own.

Firstly, this is SUCH a cool build. It's crazy, but it's not really crazy at all.
Secondly, I had a 2004 P71 and was blown away by how well it handled. If you just do bilstein hd's and reasonably good tires it will probably help a ton.
I don't want to thread-jack, but seeing you autocross it makes me wonder what the options for some lateral support might be. Buckets that you swap in? Custom shaped bench? Velcro?
How did I miss this thread? Very cool truck.
