The sound coming from the bottom end was not good. Driving home tonight I could no longer talk myself into believing this was not going to end without a mess. But I did find a turn out. Before it went poof.

The last time I found myself on the side of the road calling AAA for a similar rumble it was from our RV. No vented block but that feeling of, this is not going to end with out the spending of cash that I really did not want to part with. But I am grateful it is back on the road. Once again I will be going down the path of justifying a motor, stock, but one that gets 27-33 MPG.

So, what to do next.

On the bright side I will have a fresh clutch, water pump and belts.

The RX7 5th gear swap is a great upgrade to do while you have the engine/tranny out. You get to keep the Mazda zoom zoom in 1st through 4th and save a dime or two in fifth.

Here is a step by step writeup.

Looks like the shop that has faithfully changed and checked/topped the oil of my cars going on 8 years over filled the car by what looks like one and half quarts.

Now what?

Yes, drain and refill.

I am hopping so, I do not want to vent the block.

Having a shop receipt with the milage is something the IRS understands. I average 3500 miles every 6 weeks, over three cars. I got tired of convincing the "Auto Zone" that I was not a shop.
