With the gunk stuff you can do an OK job without the pressure washer if you have a good nozzle on your garden hose, preferably with hot water.

Well, with work kicking my butt, and the many pop up thunderstorms in MD shutting down the Driveway shop, not a whole lot has occurred. I did rewire the fan from a toggle switch to a Relay that kicks the fan on when the ignition is in the "on" position, and kills it when i turn the car off. should solve the issue of the car running hot. my evaporator core is still hanging from zipties, so i need to get the correct bolts to hold that in, and theres a fleabay exhaust that i need to fit/modify and get it bolted on. My Friend/Codriver came over today and helped me paint the car finally so no more faded factory paint. Should have a picture tomorrow morning when the paint is all dry and the touch-ups have been applied. also, if weather permits, the exhaust will go in tomorrow
The lighting and recent rain really make the car look nice in the photos..... but its still a piece of crap in person. at least it looks better than the faded and cracked/chipped factory paint.
Car is also now fully prepped for the next frostburg event this weekend. My fan is now properly wired in instead of a toggle switch on the dash, and the car has its new livery. i also noticed the stock muffler had broken its mount and was banging around, so for the time being, and how damn quiet this car is, it now just has a pipe that dumps behind the rear axle. still has the OEM resonator, so its no louder than your average fart can, and sounds a million times better. if it turns out theres a volume issue ill get small muffler to tone it down a bit.
I would snap the band around the muffler almost annually. There are two different mounts and no part store could give me the correct one on the first try. I was able to get either to work with a bit of hackery.

Nice, we saw you fly by, thought you were racing is for a minute lol. The suburban was having some heat issues Otherwise we would have kept up
In the end it didn't matter since we all ended up stuck in that huge backup down I270 lol.....
I was flying by because my 4.7 needs to get its speed up going into the hills, else I'll be going 25mph by the time I get to the peak, haha.....

nice. we still had to stomp on the 5.3L V8 to get it to make it up the hills at speed. and ive got to tow the car down to Catlett next month in my 4.0 Tacoma, that will be fun.
Also, did you get the honk from the Summit point Road Race guys going home? we got a honk and thumbs up twice from them lol

Oh, you mean that massive enclosed rig with the 6' tall grille on the front of the cab? That was Meathead racing, coming home with a bunch of Miatas from Pittsburgh. Man, that thing sounded like a freight train passing me doing like 80 lol....
Yeah, we used to tow our Chumpcar e30 with my 4.0 4Runner. It did the job ok, but didn't much like the hills. If anything, the route to Catlett is pretty much all flat. Have they announced if the next event is actually there? I heard it was "TBD" depending on whether it remained hot as hell or not.

yeah, its still TBD as far as i know, im just hoping its there since im sure the Tacoma will have issues in the mountains, will have to take a page from your book and get a good running start
So, since I'm terrible about taking pictures i don't have any new ones to share, but the car did get some work done. It got a new coolant resivior cap at the August regional event, which finally solved the overheating issue. The fan was wired into a relay so it operates like it did originally, and the drivers seat got reupholstered so the metal support would stop breaking mine and my co drivers ribs. We also bent a wheel at the same event. Other than that the clutch is still sketchy, but it works so I'm leaving it until it explodes. And the engine runs like a top. The rear subframe now has nice big holes opening up because of rust, so it's definitely done after this season, as it would require to much fabrication work to fix the issue, and I already have a replacement sitting in the "shop"
Well, I guess now that the car is gone I should at least give this thread some closure. After the Agust regional event, I missed the September event due to getting food poisoning the morning of the event. In October, we ran the car so hard that we broke the mounting face of the front left wheel off, and didn't have a spare. The car then got some cheap alloy 15" 5x100 wheels to make it the rest of the season, and then we got rained out in November due to the hurricane. At the last race of the season, we took it easy on the first run of the event to get times on the board, and as a result, we ended up in second place for the season. Unfortunately, the car couldn't hold up to the abuse of being driven at 110% the whole event, and came away from the season with a Bent Unibody, burned out power steering pump and a destroyed clutch. This resulted in the purchase of a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 for the upcoming 2017 season, although due to life getting in the way we're probably not going to make the full season this year. I'll add all the pictures of the car in the next post, since the editing interface is less than stellar
