The Sabbaru parts car arrived late yesterday. I'm going to hit the budget for the full $200 for the differential. I got the rest of the car for $200 more, but that part is out of budget and getting used on different cars that aren't challenge related.
Yes, the names don't match. It's still legit. As noted with the Pulsar photos above, he's a cool guy, really one of us, and I'm really quite surprised we hadn't run into each other before now. I sent him the build thread, and he's cheering me on.
Everybody seems to want the FUCC to make it and finish. Thanks.

Since the replacement differential arrived attached to a car late last night, it was once again time to hustle a bit during lunch break. The replacement diff is out and ready to be rehomed.

I laugh every time I see the rust and dirt coming off of these cars in my photos. I really have to get out the broom and sweep things a bit. There is a mound of dirt under FUCC that's noticeable when you roll over it.
Today we put the FUCC on the ground and drove it up and down the street. There are still a few bugs to work out, but we could do a slow drag pass and awful autocross run at this point in time. Since our goal is to go to the Challenge and finish:
The FUCC is coming to the Challenge!
Tomorrow and Sunday are going to be hectic. I also put in for a day off on Thursday. I think we're going to make it, and still be well under budget, though.
Figuring out the exact budget is going to be entertaining. I got the whole car for $400m but I'm only using the differential.

In reply to Brett_Murphy (Agent of Chaos) :
This is AWESOME news 👏
I'm looking forward to seeing the car and meeting you in a week.
Hah, hah, haaa! While testing the braking this morning, I got three really great stops, but after the third one the pedal went to mush. I'll be outside, trying to figure out which brake line or whatever decided to fail.
I spent today learning how to patch hard lines on a car. I've made one good flare, tomorrow I'll try the next one!
Found kinfolk at the car show this weekend

My neighbor came over and told me that Sunshine, who came to us through the cat allocation system, was dead on their patio. She never wanted to come inside, but made our yard her home base for the last 13 years. It looks like she tangled with something a bit too tough for her. I'll be adding digging a grave to the list of items to do today.
Here she is with Girl-Spawn, 5 years ago during lockdown.

I got the wrong compression coupler to fix the brake line and nearly crapped my pants when it was still leaking.
I figured out what was wrong, replaced the coupler and things look good.
I'm finally starting to de-stress. Now I just have to put on the numbers finish the build book and get to Florida.
Sorry about the loss of your cat, whether they were inside your house or not, I'm sure they still carved out a little space in your heart.
Excited to see you at the challenge!
The brakes were still leaking. Since I had plenty of room in the budget, I paid a shop an hour labor to go over the brakes again. I also paid for an alignment. Yes, I feel dirty, but I am *making it* to the challenge.

What's left of the work list:
Bleed brakes again
Apply number and class
Take a good photo of the car and finish the build book.
Drive to Florida
Apply stickers
Oh, the failure in the brake line.

I drove it a bit. The brakes are much better now that they actually work again.
To do:
Apply number and class
Take a good photo of the car and finish the build book.
I did notice that the auto trans shifts a bit erratically when cold, but does better when it's warmed up. I should check the level and fill it up if needed.
Drive to Florida
Apply stickers
Seems when I check something off, something else pops up.
I topped it off, and aside from numbers and class, it's ready for the weekend!

Great news, can't wait to see it!
Finally, my friend. I'm happy to see you coming!!
I'll do what I can to help throughout the weekend, just like everyone else

Sorry about the cat and hell yeah about the car! My brother lives in Culpeper (I think just barely visible in your satellite pic) and I sent him this car as he's always wanted an early WRX wagon. You've given this beast a much better life than if he would have given up an parted it out a wee bit ago. God speed getting it to Florida and back and hope it kicks ass at the challenge. I also would love an early WRX wagon.
