Great success!!!  I was concerned for you that this thing was gonna yeet another belt, and then you'd be considering setting in on fire at your jobsite, ha.  glad that is not the case.

Thankfully, it didn't have to come to that.

One thing it needs before I crunch some sheetmetal is a camera or 3. No rearward viz, very shaky drivers mirror when driving...Any recommendations for a 3 or 4 camera system that won't break the bank? Bonus points if I can add a camera to the system on the back of my enclosed trailer that will work with whatever monitor I put in the bus.

After driving a short distance, all the lights cleared themselves except check engine, and battery/alternator light. Gauge showed 14v+/-, so after a half a mile trip to get more diesel and another peak under the hood not showing anything obviously wrong, I decided to go for it on the hour plus ride home.

And made it home. Alternator light never went out, but voltage gauge never dipped. That light was not on before all this, and I didn't do anything to the alternators, so other than wrestling a belt on and off twenty times and replacing the batteries with a brand new pair, I'm not sure what's up. But now it's home, so a lot easier to troubleshoot.

Voltage 14+/-and the alt light on is one of the failure modes for a GM Regulated Voltage Control (RVC) charging system. I'm not an expert in the space, but that's where I'd start looking, beginning with figuring out if it has RVC and if so what version. Happy hunting, let us know how it goes ...

We have a generic wireless backup cam like this that came with my Class C motorhome.   The camera is magnetic and so you could put it on the bumper of the bus when not towing and on the bumper of your trailer when you are.  It is useful for other things, when you put the rv on leveling blocks you can put the camera on the ground facing the wheel and see when you are centered on the blocks.

I was looking at all manner of cheap systems on Amazon. The magnetic aspect is appealing, for the scenario you describe, but I'm not opposed to wired especially if it's any better picture.

Adventures in a new bus, day 1 at home: let's see if the wheel chair lift works!

Not powered, let's do it manually, just to see if it's seized. Not seized. Went down, way too fast.

Got power to it, and motor whirred, but just seemed to be spitting fluid out. Pulled cover, and the reservoir is split in multiple places.

Neat. Now gotta figure out how to wrestle this thing back into the bus so I can close the giant door!

Fix? Rooting around for another generic quart of ATF before I just dump some Redline D4 in it and move on from my $20.

Of note, floor is swollen from the ATF leak, so the power unit no longer fits on both bolts without really forcing things. For purposes of this exercise, I'm just using one bolt.

Great success. No more touching things we don't need to touch.

Initially planned to keep wheelchair lift. Figured it could be useful for loading things, I have a father in law and a grandfather that both have mobility issues, and "do nothing" is generally the easiest decision. But, it seems like I'd need to remove it to address the subfloor issues underneath it and the rust on its base from the previously cracked reservoir dumping hydraulic fluid over who knows what period of time. Once I remove it, I don't see putting it back in being worth the effort, space it takes up, weight it adds, etc. Plus, that replacement reservoir appears to be $225. So, unless someone here has a compelling reason I should keep it, I'll probably be removing it at some point.
