and New Order is never a bad choice
Alright so back at this thing yesterday after WK2 soccer game in the rain. I got the pan separated from the block and it appears the leaks are coming from the rubbery bits at both ends of the block. I'm pulling down the R&P now after pulling the front anti-sway bar. With the R&P dropped then lifting the engine slightly I can get the pan off. Clean things thoroughly then start putting parts back on.
Dinner was a nice spinach quiche outside on the back porch and some of this.
I'm not a fan of most fruited beers but I make an exception every fall for a bottle of this raspberry lambic from Lindemans.
Dropped the rack and got the oil pan off and cleaned today. Scraped the block surfaces though need to finish cleaning that before getting the pan back on. Reinstalling the pan is my first step on the rebuild.
Getting silicone sealant off is a PITA! Block rails are close but the front and rear gasket retention stamping are hard to get cleaned out.
Block and PITA silicone traps above all cleaned. Time for a brake clean wipe down and gasket install.
Just like me, a night long soak in alcohol didn't do much good for the bolts. It did somewhat reduce the bond to the fasteners so now they're clean and ready for reinstall.
Finally getting things back together. I got the oil pan back on along with motor mount fasteners and yesterday got the back of the block and heads cleaned off along with the block plate. I installed the block plate, flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate and torqued things to spec after cleaning everything up.
Dave came up to Detroit Dream Cruise week and had dinner with me, Adrian, and Tom Spangler. It was good to see a him again.
It was good to catch up today sir! Impressed at the cool stuff you guys have going on in composites. Now, we need more Cougar Life...
