Build thread DrBoost's desk organizer

So far, so good, tomorrow we pinstripe! I was going to edge the flames with a traditional blue stripe but I really like them straight against the black so I may just keep the striping on the front panel now....decisions decisions

Looks better in the flesh, the colors washed out in the flames in the photo, there's a lot more variation in person.

LOL, DrBoost keeps tellin' me I gotta put a price on it 'cause his co-workers are gonna want them. To be honest I'm doing this because he asked and I wanted a creative project, I find with most of this kind of stuff the time I put into it (because I enjoy it) is too great to be fair to myself or the customer if I put a $$ on it. Either I cheat myself an value my time at less than minimum wage or I charge for the time I have in and it costs more than people want to spend. Guess that's why I dont do this stuff for a living.

Warning for DrBoost, new photos below, don't look if you want surprises!

Ok, first round of stripes on, these have to dry and then I'll lay in the secondary color which will be either white or silver. DrBoost likes silver but it flows different than the other colors and is kinda of a pain to strip with. Especially on something with an odd shape like this where I can't get a good hand rest.

And the silver. Looks ok, not the smoothest stripe but this is a small design and as I noted, silver hates me :(

The silver looks good. I can see where it fought you. But it's still a few hundred times better than I'd do. I can't wait to see it in the flesh.

That's still probably the best pinstriping job anyone has ever given to an Ikea desk organizer.

Way, way better than I could do.
