Got a little distracted yesterday and put the engine and transmission from the gone El Camino into the Chevelle
it'll get the pulleys and brackets swapped out for ones that are cleaner/nicer, the Demon carb off Rainbow Dash, some new black gm performance parts valve covers, and when I get my credit card paid off and have some positive influx I'm ordering some stainless long tube headers and mufflers to go with the stainless dual exhaust kit I auctioned up for $14 last week.
guess it's time to do the RF suspension so I can move it around to the lift, clean the spot it's been in for 10 years, and park the Skyline and 57 inside the front door so they are easy to get to
I have been waiting on the Malibu since I came and got an engine from you in 2017. This gives me the strangest boner.
this is how baby Devins are made
I'm very used to shifting left handed now for sure.
ebayed the gauge cluster from the el camino for way more than I expected so the elky's investment as an engine donor for the chevelle is officially $0. Love a free crate motor and transmission.
Speaking of rhd, Patrick did another thing and has a trip to make now....for a LaDawri Firestar Mark II
So, vintage racing project?

Idk. I think it's in really decent shape as far as the body and chassis go. It comes with an absolute horde of panhard junior parts which is what the Devin Panhard used as the donor also. So there is one of everything for the firestar and another one of most things for the Devin. There are basically 2 sets of everything that moves(hubs, brakes, spindles, wheels, axles) and 2 partially disassembled engines with lots of extra ancillaries like carbs, 3 gearboxes, 3+ steering racks. Would have been worth it for the parts alone without getting the car.
the Devin 295 body is going to get carted over to my buddy's detail shop, washed properly all the way, have a bunch of pics taken inside his well lit clean shop, and submitted to BAT to finance the Devin Panhard restoration. There are people all over bugging us about buying it so I figure the best way to find out what it's really worth is to let them bid over it.
In reply to Patrick :
That sounds awesome!
I know you were looking at eventually running the Devin Panhard at Putt-in-bay and possibly the Pittsburg Schnley Park events, was wondering if you were going to run the new car while you finish the Devin. Get some time running a car thats already set up so you have a better idea when you are teething in the Devin.

The LaDawri is apart but also doesn't need the rotten and crashed frame repair that the Devin does. I'm not sure what the plan is right now other than making time to go get it and really getting serious about selling the other Devin body to make room and money. I'm not in a hurry to do anything at this point except figure out my income situation and see if what I'm doing now is viable long term because it certainly is more fun than physical labor
that's the car, way back when. apparently now I am patrick, collector of H Mod panhard based cars
Just made a deal to find the Devin 295 a new home with someone eager to build another like he did 20 years ago.
So I just realized the 'cones' in the pics are actually bags or burlap sacks...On my phone the other day I assumed they were actual cones.
Any idea where this is? It looks like an airport ramp area.
Not sure but I'm planning to ask if they know where the pictures are from.
Need to find the same type of pictures for the Devin Panhard too! Would love to get some provenance
Check cleared for the LaDawri so I need to arrange pickup. Devin 295 has a deposit on it and I may try and meet him in Niagara Falls because the other car is in Rochester and buyer is in Ontario right across the bridge.
used the roof basket on the Toyota yesterday
avalon is proving to be an amazing little trucklet because of the size of the trunk and back seat. It's kept 3500 miles off my truck so far.
Update: Devin 295 buyer backed out so I'll have to follow through with BAT or something
just got back from New York
body is in the bed because safer going 70mph vs strapped to a trailer
After a not so careful examination of the chassis, a couple tubes to replace and a couple triangles will make me happy, plus a place for a roll hoop. I don't know if I'm the one to do it, but I kinda like it a lot and at least want to assemble it far enough to roll/steer/look like a car again before making any decisions.
I'm burned out. I started buying bulk/overstock/returned car parts at auction and parts/tools at estate sales and opened an ebay store. Tickling 5 figures in gross sales in 3 months. I finished my temporary tenure as a truck driver at the end of April, and at the beginning of April my friend got divorced. She wasn't allowed to spend any money on the house not because her husband was cheap like she thought but because he was cheating on her for 12 years and letting her bank money in their joint account so that when she found out he would get half of a higher amount. berkeley him, but anyway she went full bore "I want all this stuff done to the house that he never let me do" for her rebound, so I worked essentially 3 jobs for all of april. I've had to scale back ebay because of her house, sales have slowed, and that's what I really want to do so it's been mentally draining. I have a backlog of 200+ items to list.
Put bluntly, I need a long break after this project of her house is done so I can refresh, reset, and not make any stupid quick decisions. The Devin 295 getting backed out on was very hard to take(minus keeping half his deposit) because I was looking forward to using some of that money to get some seats for the Skyline. In the mean time, knowing it was sold, I bought this LaDawri pictured above. It has not put me in a tight spot cash wise, I was fine cutting a check for it, but the old money mindset/grindset creeps back now and again and I get the urge to push until past my breaking point then push harder. I have a shirt with Goku from DBZ on it that says "I know my limits, I just don't pay attention to them" and that's absolutely why I'm currently in the situation I'm in.
So, I am trying to start listening to my body and brain and unberkeley things again. I make poor decisions when I'm burned out, and I was damn near ready to list both Devins, this LaDawri, my 57, my ATV, and the Wartburg a couple weeks ago. In the moment it felt like it would fix me to unload stuff, but this is stuff I love and need to let help fix me, and they can't do that if they're gone. So I put a new carb on the ATV, put a new taillight on it, and ripped around the yard a bit and remembered how fun and useful it is.
Have a couple rides/events in the R32 for a break man, then get back after it. Minus the Skyline and sub it for a Cayman and that is what I do.
Mental health month and all that. Feed your head with some backroads.
Feel like this has happened once already
i bought back the z32 less the engine/trans/interior/lights. He left all the new suspension and brake parts, tons of extras, half his immaculate brown/tan interior including a crack free dash, better t tops than it left with, and some of the extras that I tossed in when it sold. Will be parting it out and scrapping what's left.
also bought a honda dream that is slightly more nightmare and will probably have to part that over the winter to get my money back and make a little.
getting back on track on ebay listing consistently, working through the backlog, and stocking stuff in an organized manner so when something sells I just need to tape it up and send it out.
definitely want to find the right home for the 57 chevy that isn't my home. Have yet to sell the virago or the 3 wheeler even though they've been replaced. Have my sister's old buddy 125 up at the cabin and my dad's old dirtbike is mine now and waiting for me to clean the carb.
