If it’s the same maf as my 00 q45, they’re $20 on amazon

That's how the MAF sensor in my Q45 failed. I actually pulled the sensor itself out of a G35 and put it in my Q45 housing.

What year was your donor?  I can probably bring a 2004 350z MAF to the Challenge and if you want I can hit the local you pick it for other donors.

I'm probably just going to replace it new and call it normal wear and tear. I need to stop hurting this car and save it for the Challenge.

Awesome work on the roll bar! You'll figure out the maf thing.

Did you disconnect the battery and ecu while welding?  I’ve heard of issues arising from not doing it.  But plenty have welded on vehicles without and not had problems.

I have a suspicion that the "I welded stuff and now my electronics are fried" complaints are mostly people who put the ground clamp on their engine block and then weld something elsewhere, sending a bunch of juice through their wiring and sensors.

Battery yes, ECU ground no...

But yes that is essentially the order of events. Running driving Friday night. Welded Saturday and Sunday. Runs like E36 M3 now. Fingers crossed on MAF sensor.

Check continuity from the plug to the ECU connector?

Everyone else is trying to help you with the MAF and I'm just sitting here thinking that you did a great job on the roll bar, especially the feet. Well done.

Exactly my thoughts. Really nice welding from what I can see in pictures

Thanks guys, it was an exhausting install especially in this bullE36 M3 southern 95 deg "fall" weather. Starting to miss the Midwest more and more.

Confirmed the MAF is receiving the correct voltages, and I pulled the ECM plug to verify continuities. All signs point to bad MAF sensor. Amazon'ed one for a speedy fix and I'll pull a backup from the yard this weekend. Caffeine and Octane this Sunday.

You didn't miss anything this weekend weather wise. We had a late blast of 90's and humid for autoX yesterday.

Dammit Amazon. Description said it fits all years of G35. Guess the 03-04 are different. This will have to wait until Saturday's junkyard run. Even the plug is different, so I can't even see if the code will go away.

Junkyard MAF fixed it! Only one 03 on the lot that still had the sensor, so I got lucky. The 05-up is different. I'll order a new one as backup. The Challenge is way too close for comfort for E36 M3 like this to happen.

If you go for it all at 8:57 with nitrous and want to guarantee the most spectacular failure award, i found a .130 nitrous jet in my stuff, and the single nozzle efi kit charts stop at a .088 jet for +250hp.  Soooo +350?

According to the Jet calculator .130 will be a 750hp bump.

Imagine having the first g35 drivetrain in the 9s - the wagon may only be about halfway down the track.

I'm confused as to why i have this but now want to throw a 750 shot at a 305 and see if it holds for a quarter mile.

In the interest of full disclosure, after my clean runs I was planning to jet 0.061 N / 0.040 F which should be a super rich 150 shot.

But I'm game for more if it survives that. I've had less fun for more money.

I had to go digging for this Hot Rod article that I vaguely remembered, but based on their experience, I’m thinking a 305 wouldn’t make it to the 60’ mark under power.

Ok i looked, andy was off.  I have a 136 jet, which coupled with a 60 fuel on 55psi would deliver a 475 shot.  You're welcome to asplode it if you want, but then you'll have to come get my q45 for the v8
