Nice! Leaning into it.
Just updating this thread. Kid#2 drove for the rest of the season and a few events the next. Finally got big. Did a rallycross in a car before losing interest. The kart got pushed under the overhang. Came out occasionally for the little ones to play with. Sat. For a long time. Today was a carb clean and fresh gas. Fired right up. Immediately drained the gas and the oil so it can be loaded like so. It's heading to it's new home. I'm happy.
I missed this thread the first time, quite enjoyed reading through it.
Happy ending, too. I love that last picture.
Colin has begun to drive it a little without freaking out. Jonah and Colin put the roll bar back on after Seth and his kids headed north. Seat slider is sliding again, Abby still can't reach the pedals but maybe some blocks can fix that. ordering a new clutch and some smaller front tires to eliminate frame rub with the current setup. Debating the merits of an $80 torque converter clutch versus a $23 centrifugal one. Any thoughts?
I couldn't make a torque converter fit when I set it up initially. You have more weldy skills, so things may be different. My experience is that torque converters are better over a wider range of speeds.
Shortly after I posted the picture, my nephew hopped in and was doing great till he ran over my brother in law. He isn't broken, so it's funny.
Who am I kidding, he's my brother in law, it would be funny even if he was hurt.
lost the admittedly horrible old rusty chain Saturday evening. Got a new one from TSC and that one spit the master link clip after 10 minutes. Verdict is the clutch is so wasted it is wobbling and beating on the chain. Ordered a clutch kit. Loaded back up for return trip to Ohio in the morning.
