This car is done and back to Brando at blunttech but I wanted to post the build (and will start being better at posting build threads).

This was a very quick and dirty build. We built it about a month from pulling/parting the donor e36 to driving the car 900 miles to AR (midam) and then Brando driving it 700 back to MN.

The car already had upgraded suspension and brakes.

On to the build and pics.

The car (this was after engine was in and running)

Started by dropping a spare m50 block in with e34 oil pan and no trans. Cut some of the front shelf out but not all.

That's Tim

Early on fitting with the trans.

You can see it's long in an 02 bay

Things were so tight that the crank pulley was close to the lower nose panel. So we had to make a cut.

How it fits with the engine in.

And very close back at the firewall

We ended up using the g240 trans from an m42 because it has an OD and is a lot smaller to fit in the 02 tunnel.

It still required some heating and beating. This was a bit more than was needed in the end.

Underside as it is getting fitted

We did have to bend the center track rod down a bit to clear.

Pictures as we were fitting things before the mounts.

Throttle body is a tight fit but clears above the booster. A different throttle linkage was made.

Throttle linkage

And for fun a turbo would probably fit......

Making mounts Passenger side

drivers side

Going in for the last time

The radiator is made for a jeep but then we flipped the inlet and outlet.

Has a pusher fan in the nose and a puller off to the drivers side.

Fan had to be shaved a little to clear the alternator.

Not exactly sure what the driveshaft is from. It was one I had on the shelf and fit after pulling the center out a little bit. A new CSB mount was made later.

bimmerworld shifter

Sorta an odd exhaust routing but we wanted to fit the largest glasspack we could in the center to make it quiet (which worked out).

touring tank is VERY deep. touring sender on the right. 318is pump and sender on the left. Extended the pump down as low as possible with the wiring that was on the pump. As you can see when the gauge reads empty there is still a good amount of fuel the pump can still reach. But....there is still some it can't reach at the bottom of the tank.

Finished engine bay pictures

2 days after we got it running we took off for AR to mid america 02 fest.

Just before leaving.

Our home for many miles

No speedo...but at least a tach and GPS.

Half way there

Feel Free to post and ask any questions.... The car is done and back in MN.

That's a tight fit but looks great! Is the M50 and S52 the same size?

yeah m50 and s52 are the same motor for the most part. just different displacement and cams.

Very cool, I like old bimmers even though I know little about them.

I know I am commenting on an old post, but I have a few questions:

1.  The jeep radiator - What year/model is that for?

2.  What is performance like?  Acceleration and handling in particular.

I have a 74 sahara and an s52B28 that is about to be a thing!

Thanks for the inspiration!
