Pertronix ignition is fairly cheap and really easy. It also doesn't look out of place under the hood.

Also, I've always loved the '66 Rally Pac. In over 30 years of looking, I've only seen one at a swap meet. They repro them now of course. If you get one, resist the urge to go with the 8000 rpm tack and get the 6000. It's easier to read and more fun to watch.

6000 rpm tach for sure... The 10,000 rpm tach the P.O. had in the car is a joke. The needle barely moves. I really only kept it because it has a shift light. I have it set to 3500 rpm, you know... to remind me I am driving a car with a 50 year old 289 in it... I get a little rev happy some times... :-)

BIG THANKS to my son Ratghia or joining Jessica and I in the shop last night with his Old School Sun Tune Up Kit. Got the point gap set, the dwell dialed in and timing set. Purrs like a kitten... :-)

I drove the T5 on my 60 mile round trip to work today. my only complaint was a bad vibration between 50 and 60 mph.. no big deal, traffic moves 65-70 anyway. I chalked it up to tire balance and moved on with life. On the way to dinner tonight with the kids, we were coming through town and I heard a noise, almost like we ran over something. After that, it sounded like a bad axle bearing. I babied it to the restaurant and took a look at it in the parking lot. Shook the drivers side rear wheel and heard a noise from inside the hub cap. pulled it and found, one lug nut with its broken stud, 1 wheel stud with no nut, and the other 3 nuts loose. I am assuming the broken stud was the only tight one on that wheel.

So here is the deal.... in my excitement to drive the car, I got it running, fixed the wiring enough to be legal, and took her around the block a few times. No noises.. called it good for short hops. I know better... I got very lucky. If that stud would have broken on the the way to work doing 70, it could have been a whole different ball game. Before the car turns another tire, wheels come off, brakes get a visual check, wheels get put back on, lugs get tightened. Don't be a Sean kids... Check it before you wreck it... This has been a public service announcement brought to you be this doofus...

Not much work on the T5 of late, We've been busy reorganizing the shop ad working on Jessica's motorcycle. I did buy it a present yesterday...

$60.00 Maybe not such a good deal for just one...

Good thing I got the guy to throw in the other 3!! Yep, all 4 for $60.00!!

They need cleaned and painted, but honestly the way they look now goes well with the ratty look of the car. :-)

So I took a Mental Health Day today. Its been Uber Busy at work and I needed a little "Me Time". Off to the garage early to pull all the wheels, go over the brakes and replace the broken wheel stud. Much to my surprise I was rewarded with dirty, but NEW brake parts. gave every thing a good cleaning and reassembled. Oh and I helped the old girl find her "Inner Bad Ass"!!

I liked this car before you put those wheels on. But now... I LOVE this car. I completely forgot about the T5's until I saw this thread. Nice work getting it back on the road!

Agreed, the shoes diffidently make the outfit. I've always been partial to the Vintage Trans-Am look, i like the direction this is heading.

I freaking love this car. Please please please let me know if you're taking it to any more car shows near the Carlisle/Chambersburg or northern MD area, because I WANT TO SEE IT IN PERSON. Also, my car wants to meet his long-lost German big sister.

Sky_Render, Thanks for the kind words. We will definitely let you know when we will be hitting shows. Would love to show you the car!

As far as progress, she has taken a back seat to a bathroom remodel and a motorcycle build. Hope to get back to her in a couple of months. In the mean time, we bought a parts car as a cowl donor. ( too good to pass it up. Paid $150 for my share.. it was a '66 6 cyl auto coupe, no drive line, needed a whole new front clip and floors front to back. ( it wasn't worth saving ) A friend bought everything from the back of the doors back to make a couch... I took the rest, Including headers and a new flowmaster exhaust.

I'm diggin the wheels. You might consider a set of flat center caps like these for the Trans Am vibe. There are a lot of places that offer them. Ebay has them of course. I had a set of flat caps on my Vintage 45's that were on my '65 Fastback.

Did you ever track down that vibration between 50 & 60 mph? If balancing the tires doesn't cure it, you might wanna look at balancing the driveshaft. Like the car and where you're goin' with it, btw.....

Thanks!! The vibration... that was user error. In my rush to get the car on the road worked through the fuel and electrical issues and neglected checking the brakes... The vibration was a driver side rear wheel held on by ONE lug nut. I'm a lucky idiot.

Yeah, I love the way torque thrust type wheels look with those flat caps on. Make sure you measure the cap bolt circle. There are several different versions out there. For my V45's I had to buy special flat caps as the pattern was not the same as regular torque thrusts.
